    Hi
My ac adapter has just died on me, and I have found a replacement one. But there is one small difference which is that the input on my orginal charger is 100-240v 50-60hz 1.5A but the replacement is 100-240v 50-60hz BUT it is 2.0A.
I was just wondering whether this matter since the output of the replacement adapter is the same.

    Thanks

Edit: do you think that I may have shorted my motherboard? Although it DOES boot up fine with a battery.

make sure the amperage or wattage matches your unit as well as OUTPUT voltage. a 2.0A adaptor is useless on a computer with a 3A or higher draw

ok it sounds like that adaptor is over loaded, some computers will try and boot for a few seconds even when the battery is critical. my guess is you need a different AC charger and you should be OK as most laptop motherboards have safety circuits built into them. one thing you can try is plug in the adaptor but DO not try to boot up and see if your charging light comes on
