I bought a Targus wireless keypad/mouse combo...everything works fine BUT the keypad will not recognize alt codes. For example...if I hold alt while typing the numbers 164, I should get the Spanish ñ. I do, in fact, on a regular, full size keyboard/keypad. THe external keypad will only type numbers....it will not recognize alt codes. If I type the above code using the Targus keypad, I get nothing but a blinking cursur .

To those of you who have an external keypad for your laptop, can you try the above code for me? That is, hold alt and press 164 and let go....IF you get ñ, let me know what brand you got and the name of th emodel. Don't care if its wired or wireless, but I need one that works cuz its easier than using th eembedded keypad on my laptop....

Could it have something to do with the NUM LOCK?? I don't know all of the specifics but if I try that key combo on a regular keyboard, I get the spanish N. If I turn NUM LOCK off and try the same combo, I get nothing. Not the most technical response, but I think there in lies the issue.

    hmmmm

I take it the keypad works normally otherwise ? and you've paired the receiver to the Keypad etc. the keypad acts just like a standard keyboard
I'd actually check with your notebook manufacturer for driver / bios / controller updates.
