    Hi everyone.

I recently bought this ASUS G51Jx laptop during the Singapore IT show. The specification says that the screen is 15.6 inches. So I went around shops trying to find a screen protector that is 15.6 inches long, but to my surprise I couldn't find any... There were only 15.4 inch screen protectors, and 15.6 inch ones didn't exist.

But I do remember seeing 15.6 inch screen protectors on the net...

This made me wonder, am I supposed to use the 15.4" screen protector for my laptop, or I should go somewhere else to look for a 15.6" one?

As more laptop manufacturers adopt the 15.6" size more screen protectors will be available. I recommend something like this screen protector / keyboard cover instead of the finicky clear overlays.

try photodon.com. They can cut protectors to whatever size you need it for.

Thanks. So 15.6" ones are not available simply because they are relatively new? I was wondering why none of the shops had it...

Looks like I really have to purchase it through the net then.

Yes. The 16:9 aspect ratio was only introduced for notebooks about two years ago, before that, the majority of notebooks were 16:10. 16:9 has only really picked up in popularity within the last 6 -12 months, so it makes sense that it would be difficult to find, even if the vast majority of notebooks these days are 16:9.

You could always order one for 17" notebooks and trim it if you feel comfortable doing so.

Hmm, I'm afraid it won't work out well since I'm not good at Art and Craft... haha.

Anyway, any suggestions on pasting the screen protector correctly? I'm tried on my monitor once and it didn't work out well. Ended up having a lot of bubbles.

Get a piece of cardboard to smooth it out as you put it on (need something stiff and flat, but not too hard so it'll scratch), and I tend to try to not peel the backing completely off when applying, I just peel it off as I go, smoothing down toward the "open" end of it with the cardboard as it lays down.

The #1 most important thing is to make sure that the screen is 100% perfectly, totally clean. Use a microfiber cloth and some glass cleaner (spray on the cloth, not the screen), and get every bit of dust and everything off of it, and then let it dry completely.
