    Hi,

I am looking for the following accessories for my new laptop and would like your opinions or further suggestions. A lot of this came from reading this and other forums as possible needed items.

Do I really need all this or am I showing my newbieness to notebooks?[ :D]

    1. A very well padded laptop sleeve to fit in my current briefcase. This one is a no brainer (i.e. I know I need this). I brought a local one from CompUSA for the moment (a BodyGlove). It is not heavily padded as I would like, but good enough to store the notebook in. I want to order the Spire vertical boot for later when I become truly mobile. Any other suggestions on sleeves?

Here is where the 'do I really need this' come in...

    2. A Targus portable desk...it is a foldable desk that has air wells so the laptop can breathe (also it can elevate the laptop), plus space for a mouse while it is on your lap or a desk. The zt3000 runs pretty cool so I was wondering if this is necessary.

    3. A wireless optical mouse with a USB plug-in (Logitech's wireless optical mouse for notebooks)?

    4. A surge protector for a notebook? If so, what is the recommended Joules I should get for a 1.6 dothan?

    5. A Jump Drive or Key drive (not sure of terminology). One of those small USB drives that can fit on a key ring. I figured I would get one of those to transfer files I want printed from my laptop to the desktop where the printer is connected or if I have to carry files to work or some other place. No more than $25 on this.

I don't want to go overboard spending a lot on accessories, but I want to get what I need to make the notebook last and the experience comfortable (used a desktop all my career).

    Thank you in advance.

Can someone help me out with the surge protector? Do you really need the 'fancy' ones that cost $40+ (claims its for computers up to 1.7GHz) or will a basic $20 (claims only to be up to 1GHz) one do?

    Thank you in advance.

The Logitech mouse is a good buy if your looking for a wireless. I have a logitech mouse and it works great. They aren't cheap but there worth the little extra and I've read good reviews on them. As for the jump drive, circuit city has a 128mb for 25$, I believe on sale this week. Hope this helps[ :)]

I have the Targus desk for my Sony S150 but have used it with my zt3010us and it works well...I don't use it in the desk position so much as I do as a laptop tilt stand; it makes typing much easier on the wrists and it puts the laptop at a great angle on the desk.

Also, may I suggest the zt3000 docking station? It makes it so much easier if you use a ton of external peripherals; for instance, I keep the external mouse, Smartphone docking cradle, printer, external hard drive, speakers, and ethernet at school connected to the dock and when I want to be portable, I just disconnect the laptop from the dock instead of unplugging each and every one of those things.
