    Hello.....

I bought a USB mini mouse, plugged it in and wont work, do I have to disable the touch pad before it will work?

    Thanks

It shouldn't make any difference whether the touchpad is enabled or disabled... have you tried the mouse in another USB port or have you tested other devices in the ports?

I agree, I always like disabling my touchpad because it can interfere when I am typing. You may need a specific driver for vista for it to work, check the manfs. website for Vista Drivers (most times you dont need a driver for a usb mouse though). Does the system recognize it when you plug it in?

disabled or not it won't make any difference... can your computer recognize your mouse? the problem will either be your USB port or your brand new mouse... try to plug it in another computer and see if it works...
