Is there a good tried and true place/company/source for getting power adapter/chargers of good quality for laptops, pads, etc.?

I have the factory charger for my laptop thank goodness, but I am looking for another (DC/DC) for my vehicle.

    Thank you.

So what notebook do you have, and what country are you in? We are not mind-readers!!!! you have to give us something to work with.

I have an universal charger for my notebook, and it works from 12v car as well, but universal does not mean it has the correct connector for your notebook you have to make sure it comes with the right power tip.

    John.

I was referring to power adapters/chargers in general.. if there was a really trusted quality source.

As for my laptop, it is a Gateway P-7811 FX. I'm in the US.

Are there not any trustworthy car/vehicle adapter chargers out there?

    Thanks.

You can just get a power inverter. 12VDC to 120V AC. Pep Boys and other auto retailers sell them. Just make sure it is rated to provide enough power for your laptop's power adapter. Those inverters are rated in Watts. To find out how many Watts your laptop's power adapter is just multiply the output voltage (example: 19V) by the output amperage (example: 10 A). Using my examples, the power adapter is rated for 190 Watts of power so you should get an inverter that can provide over 190W.

Some lower wattage inverters can plug directly into your cigarette lighter outlet, but as the power output goes up, you'll need to run new wires directly to your battery. Similar to how car amplifiers are installed.

For that laptop I think you should be able to just use an inverter that plugs in to the cigarette lighter outlet.

Let us know the specs of your power adapter.

EDIT: This is an example of a power inverter:

I've decided to go with LIND.

BTW, anyone with P-7811 type laptop know if they will run at all at 75W (EmPower)? Some laptops do. Tje 7811 come with a 120W power-brick.
