When I sit/lie down with the laptop, and raise my knees so that they're higher than my waist, the laptop slides down my jeans.

Is there some kind of adhesive cover (or pads) I can put under the laptop, to stop this from happening? If so, which one?

a very durable and cheap fix i use for anything that needs more grip is to buy some skateboard grip tape and put that on it. Worked wonders for my beretta px4 storm so im sure itll work fantastic for your lappy.

whats great about it too is that there is a very large variety of colors and styles for you to choose from. it can run anywhere from $6 to i would say $15 depending on brand and style/color . you should be getting at least enough to do an entire skateboard so itll be more then enough for the lappy and a few other things you need more grip with.

my advice is to not put a large chunk of it but to just put a few strips across. This prevents too much grip and leaves you with more left over for other applications (such as a handgun like i mentioned above)

don't cover your vents when you come up with a solution.

Haha, the latex pants of course - why didn't I think of that?

Thanks muchly InfectedSonic for the griptape suggestion; I'll buy some now from Amazon. You'd think there would be a more 'general' product than this skateboard stuff, but whatever - as long as it does the job! There's a gap in the market I reckon...

I'll be sure not to cover the vents/HD cover etc. I wonder if any laptops are made with slipperyness in mind, and if others have this same problem.

3M sells non slip stick ons.

Cheers. The 3M tape looks useful too, though about 3x the price per square cm compared to the skateboard grip (though the 3M is easier to apply as less cutting I guess).

Rubber coated tape would also work and it wouldn't scratch soft surfaces like wooden tables or leather sofa armrests.
