Gidday guys
Here's a strange one for you. For years I have been using my own Sennheiser headphones on aircraft, with a 2 pin adapter into the aircraft socket. When flying through Singapore last night, I saw a Mobile Gear 3 pin adapter, that is the same as the airline headphone ends, so thinking this would be better, grabbed it. Bad move. It literally melted my cables and trashed my headphones. What is the difference between the 2 pin adapter and the 3 pin?
I thought maybe a better signal, as the business class airline headphones are all 3 pin, same as the socket, whereas the economy are only 2 pin. Help or info anyone???
Thanks

haven't seen a 3pin on either JAL or Cathy first or Business class, they all use Bose noise canceling headphones with 2 pin.

3rd pin = mic? lol
Whats so good about a 2pin anyway? why are they only found in planes? I cant find stores that sell ear/headphones with 2pin. I did see a sony one but it was like $300 -
You get 3 pin in Virgin Atlantic eco-class...I dont understand about 2 pins here either...
I dont even need a 2 pin adapter with Virgin Atlantic, I just stick my Super.fi3's in.

QANTAS economy class has 2 pin sockets and 2 pin ends on the headphones, business class has 3 pin sockets and 3 pin plugs. Maybe you are right and they are noise cancelling with a power pi. That would explain the death of my CX500s. Bugger.

Hi guys.
Did some googling, and found that the QANTAS business class headphones are in fact a cheap and nasty noise cancelling headphone, powered from the seat, hence the 3 pin plug, which explains the death of my Sennheisers.
Live and learn. (still pissed though)
Regards to all.
