since I'm going to buy Alienware M17x R3 and I do have concerns about it's weight! I think you people know how hard it is standing up in the airport for like 3 hours waiting in a long queue with a laptop messenger bag on your shoulders with 2 heavy wheel bags! my shoulder always hurts and it was a netbook (asus 1201n..and yes, it's heavier than regular netbooks!) not to mention it might fall at any moment! in other words messenger bag sucks! :D

so decided to pick a backpack and now confused between the two! one is the alienware orion and the other is targus XL! any other choice is welcomed :)

    thx ;)

I've owned an Orion but now have a Slappa MASK KOA.
    M.A.S.K. Laptop Backpack

Best laptop backpack out there. Much more room than my old Orion backpack. Support is great too. My handle started to rip because I was swinging the backpack in and out of the car by the handle and there was about 20-25 lbs of stuff in it. Support sent me a brand new backpack and included return shipping for my damaged pack.

There are other backpacks at Slappa as well. They are a little pricey but well worth it.

If you want to go incognito, go with the Targus XL. I use it to carry my laptop around campus as well as textbooks. It fared quite well in the rain today and nothing inside got wet. I don't believe it is technically waterproof though. The Orion is decent and probably exactly the same as the Targus XL. The Orion without TSA approval is just a tad more expensive than the Targus XL but the TSA approved is significantly more expensive($40).

I have the Targus XL and I love it. Though when I fill it up with lots of stuff, it definitely gives me lots of shoulder pain. I tend to have lots of back and shoulder pain because I "butterfly flipped" into the wall.

So... other than that the Targus XL looks awesome and will expand when you put plenty of stuff in it.

expensive! can't say overpriced though, it looks really well made!

but I'm already paying $1950 for the laptop let alone the TAX, which is a lot of money! and I'm trying to save for the other accessories (TactX mouse and headset!) I would be happy to wait another month but really got no time left :(

I went with the Orion M18x for more room to carry my M17xs, awesome backpack.
And I also quit messenger bags a long time ago for the same reason.
