First off, let me apologize if this belongs in the Hardware Components and Aftermarket Upgrades forum. I wasn't sure.

Anywho, I've got an Alienware m15x that has a cord that goes from the laptop to the power pack, which is separating from the power pack. I'm just worried about continuing to use it in the state it is, as I leave it plugged in all the time, including when I'm not home.

I'm looking for a cheaper alternative to the entire part from Dell (BTW, the new system you have to go through to get the right department to purchase aftermarket parts for AW SUCKS now), since it's $120. I was figuring I could try my luck with the iGo chargers, since they're only $80, with two free tips.

Only problem is, they only list the m5500/5700, and Sentia 3200/3400/3450 as being supported models. Does any one know if there's a tip that is compatible, even though it's not listed as being supported on the website?

    Thanks for your help.

Well, for starters, do you know what the power usage specifications are for the m15?

I apologize for the time it took me to reply.

All the information I can give about the power usage, is the specs on the replacement AC adapter from Dell. 150 watts.

You need a minimum of 120watts for the M15X. I purchased a Targus brand universal laptop adapter, the slim version with different plugs and it works fine, but with my GTX 280M in my M15X it tends to shut off when I do any heavy gaming. The regular stock one does not shut off. I hope this helps. God Bless :)
