is there something that would be an alternative to a broken touchpad?
(besides a mouse) because i use my notebook in places where there is no room for a mouse

You could get one of those really tiny mouse to use on the plam rest area. Or, of course, you could just have the touchpad fixed. Other than that, I can't think of any thing.

If you are talking about the computer in your sig, then buy a new palmrest (which also includes the touchpad). You can find one for around $30 on eBay.

i actually did get a new touchpad, but the problem was in fact the slot where the touchpad connects to on the motherboard.
so unless i want to get a new motherboard, then there is nothing i really can do.

Isn't there a way of modding the notebook so you can fit an USB-touchpad there? :)

How about a trackball? You don't need much space for it, and you get full use of the mouse.

ok, a follow up on what im looking for...
i just saw the mx revolution and the vx nano
and i really like the vx nano because i dont have to worry about the usb dondle, but i was wondering, is it better to get wireless or bluetooth?
because if i were to get a bluetooth dondle (miniature one) i can also connect other devices as well, but i dont like having a mouse that lags though.

i currently have this crappy 30 dollar Creative Freepoint mouse and it lags like a ***** sometimes, no matter what surface its on, whether its a mouse pad or wooden desk.

You can use a mouse on your palmrest when there's no room on the desk. If you have one, try it.

What's the difference between wireless and bluetooth? Bluetooth has always been wireless!? :D
    Hehe

I would go for the bluetooth device as it can be used with other bluetooth devices also!

A trackball that you operate with your thumb is more comfortable than you would think when you get use to it. Thats what I prefer to use over the touchpad on my laptop.
