I found some usb cables that work great with awkwardly placed usb plugs on labtops. These bend 90 degrees at the head to fit a bunch of different positions. I'm using it on my Dell right now, which has horrible usb ports right in the front. Whose design idea was that anyways? well anyways here is the site.
