    Hi all,

It's been an incredibly looong time since I last perused this forum. Probably because it's been a while since I thought about upgrading my notebook.

So I'm days away from making the decision to purchase a Sony Vaio SR36GN, and am wanting to what work out what the most suitable bag/sleeve combo for it would be.

I've spent several hours reading through countless related bag/sleeve threads on this forum, and am more confused than I was before, haha. I need a bag that's very well padded, well made, reliable, compact, relatively minimalistic (ie, room for 13.3" notebook, power adaptor, and maybe one or two other small accessories, at most).

In terms of the bag itself, I've narrowed down to these:

    Crumpler Reginald Transfer- http://www.crumpler.com.au/Lite/English/Products/Skivvy-Medium-SK0206A.html

    Crumpler Chester Sqander- http://www.crumpler.com.au/Lite/English/Products/Chester-Squander-CQ02A.html

    Crumpler Skivvy Medium- http://www.crumpler.com.au/Lite/English/Products/Skivvy-Medium-SK0206A.html

STM Loft- (not sure which size - Small or Medium - will be a better fit, considering I'll probably be putting the notebook into a sleeve before it goes into the bag)
    http://www.stmbags.com.au/products.php?id=26&name=small_loft_13&category=shoulderbags

I feel that simply putting the notebook in one of these bags wouldn't be as protective as I would like, from impact, dust, scratches, etc (I could be wrong?). So which sleeve can you guys/gals recommend I put the notebook in before it goes into one of the above bags? Keeping in mind that we have a rather limited range of such items available here in Melbourne, Australia. (STM, Gecko, Targus, and Belkin are about all we get here in stores).
As an aside, I was actually really interested in The Gimp Special Edition sleeve by Crumpler, but that item isn't available here in Oz funnily, as well as many other Crumpler items I was interested in.. :(

EDIT: I'm thinking about buying the ZeroShock III 13.3" case from eBay to use as a sleeve inside one of the bags above. Does any SR owner use one of these? How is the fit? Inner case dimensions are W315 × D40 × H235mm. SR dimensions are W315 x D34 x H233.8mm. Will the width be an issue, or be too tight-fitting?

Any help/suggestions/feedback from people who have a similar setup working for them would be extremely helpful.

    Thanks in advance everyone.

there's a huge thread on zeroshock iii, japanese brand, probably the best out there

it's usually on the first page of this part of the forum, i'm guessing it's either on the 2nd or 3rd now

I assume you mean this thread.

I have the Zeroshock III for my T500, and it works well. The outside material is waterproof, and there's soft memory foam inside. Definitely offeres enough protection for my needs (taking it places in my backpack), although the sleeve is one of the heavier ones (material is thicker). It was also a bit pricey, but I needed a case and the ZS3 seemed to fit the bill.

Okay, so the ZeroShock III sounds like a good choice.
Thanks for your help thus far. :D

Now I just need some feedback to help me decide on one of the bags I mentioned, to use with the ZeroShock..

since you already have the "protection" for the laptop, just pick the best looking laptop bag

Would the ZeroShock III fit inside the STM Small Loft bag's notebook compartment? I really would like to keep the setup as small as possible if I can. The less bulk in size, the better. I had a Belkin 15.4" Messenger bag for my last notebook which was 15.4", and absolutely hated it because of how large and bulky it seemed..

Reginald Transfer or Loft... Such a difficult decision.

i'm pretty sure the zeroshock iii comes in different sizes, so.. if your laptop fits inside, then the sleeve will too
