I just got an Inspiron 1545. Am now on a quest to buy a mouse for it (I'm using an old logitech usb hardwired mouse for it now that I don't like because of the shape, it is just not comfortable in my hand). Haven't bought a PC mouse in 10 years and my head is spinning now after seeing what is out there today and reading a lot of threads here.

I understand the differences between optical and laser, tail-less and with tail (or "cord" as they say), usb vs bluetooth, etc but have a very basic question after looking at some of the newfangled rodents out there today.

Doesn't anybody still make the old fashioned tried and true righthanded curve with front end bulge type mouse that fits perfectly in your (my) hand anymore? That is what I want. I don't like the new small mice that look like spaceships etc, they just are not comfortable in my hand. I don't even care whether it is wireless or not.

And what is the big attraction for the wireless angle? I actually see that more of a flaw where the thing runs out of batteries etc???? Am I overlooking something?

    Any comments?

Thanks. I just looked at those on-line. Neither of those has the right handed curve/bulge of my desktop mouse that I like. I think I really need to try them out, not just see them though.

I did checkout a couple mice in Radioshack the other day but none of them were particularly comfortable for my hand. They had a cheap "gigaware 2.4" something or other that felt the best but I researched it on-line and there are many complaints about it not working right.

I just went to Newegg and found these 2 cheapies that might be the closest thing I can find to what I'm looking for.

I'm bummed to say I don't think anyone makes something simple like this one anymore, which fits my hand perfectly....

Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0 or a Razer Deathadder for real ergonomic. G5 is also very good.

Another vote for the Logitech G5, it's ergonomic and well priced for what you get. Mine's been going strong for over 3-years already.

That's an ambidextrous piece of junk. They have those at work. I'd suggest Logitech mice too. I don't remember a Logitech mouse that wasn't comfortable to use. I have a G9 right now, but I've used G5s at work and they are great.

Umm, the MX Revolution from Logitech is pretty nice, I defintiely like it. But it will only last as long as it''s built in battery, which means It won't be lasting you 7+ years or anything...

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I am looking into 'em.

They may be overkill for me though - I'm not looking for a high precision gaming mouse; just something functional for use with windoze. But comfort is key for me, if a hi-tech gaming mouse fits my hand the best then that is what I'll get.

Hardly. These mice have a very good reputation amongst people in the know. They're simple, reliable, cheap, and last forever. It's one of the most widely used mice in professional Counter-Strike for a reason.

From Logitech, I definitely recommend the MX518 or G5, or G7 if you want wireless. From Razer, I'd go with the DeathAdder. It's not the same shape, but it is the most ergonomic mouse I've ever used. The Mamba is ergonomically identical, though with more buttons.

As for wired vs. wireless, there's nothing wrong with wireless. You do need to change or recharge batteries after a while, but they work just as well as wired mice for 99% of uses.
