And are there any that MUST be avoided?

Depends what kind you're talking about, but for full size Logitech and Microsoft make nice mice. I would avoid generics, especially for Bluetooth and wireless models.

Yea, Generic mice are not worth it, no matter how much it costs. I rather buy an expensive one, knowing its backed by a warranty and millions of satisfied users.

I love my Logitech cordless mini optical mouse!

Very ergonomic, ambedextrous. The coolest thing is that I can use the scroll wheel to open my internet, scroll, go back, and forward. -
Built in touch pads should be avoided.
The rest of us are awaiting the Logitech V400. -

I just bought the Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer (wired) for my mom as a Christmas gift. They have excellent quality, very good in the hands. A wireless one is also avaliable.
I would stick to Logitech or MS. Razer Mice are great for gaming, that is what I am currently using. -
Hey NathanHuth, how is it that you use your scroll on your mouse to go back and forward? I'm assuming you are taking about between web pages...

i bought sony vaio's mouse. very stylish, light, accurate, nice scrolling, short cable.

MS wireless Notebook Optical Mouse is what I am using..it is small and easy to lug around. It goes very well with my Dell i700m, an has a nifty storage for the USB stick under the mouse. The best thing about this mouse is the unlimited battery life...I have an ordinary alkaline AA (came with the mouse) that I am now using for almost 4 months! And I am a heavy user!

Logitech is excellent most of their mice are great. I have owned 4 mice that I still have today. Two of the old microsoft opticals (good, cheap etc) and two logitechs. Of my logitechs one was not so good a purchase but my other one is an mx700 and I absolutely love it and have had it for some time (since it came out)
Any mice brands that are superior?
