Hi. As the title says, does anyone have any recommendations for a sleeve that fits the XPS M1530 with the 9 cell battery? Because of it's strange shape with the battery, I'm not sure what kind of case would fit snuggly with it. Anyone have any sleeves they have personally used for their M1530? Thanks. :)

The XPS M1530 comes with a sleeve, or don't they have one that fits the 9cell?

It comes with a sleeve, but I wasn't sure if it provided adequate protection I guess.

Edit. Now that I think about it, am I looking for a "Case" or "Sleeve" ? Are sleeves generally used for protection in backpacks by chance?

it provides protections from scratches and moisture. i wouldn't expect it to protect from bumps, shakes, bouncing and/or drop.

if you want to shell out the dough for it, the waterfield sleevecase is rather nice. if you search for it, you can find my review of it.

    wait... what?

my thought on a sleeve was that it SHOULD protect from bumps, shakes, bouncing, and maybe some adequate protection against moisture.

The main difference between a sleeve and a case/bag is how they work. A sleeve is designed to slip into a larger bag that doesn't have a laptop carrying function. A laptop bag or case is a purpose built bag which probably has pockets for mouses and chargers and then a main area for your laptop.

And to the OP, try a waterfield bag from sfbags.com some of the toughest bags and they're worth the money.

if the sleeve was a tempurpedic pillow, yeah maybe i'd trust it with some bouncing, shakes, drops and whatever. but 99 percent of the sleeves i see, i'd only trust it to protect from scratches and humidity/moisture. i wouldn't trust it in a backpack either unless it was a padded backpack/laptop bag.

I ordered my M1530 with the Belkin neoprene sleeve that Dell offers on the ordering page, it also comes with an XPS case with a magnetic lid. The Belkin sleeve is perfect for what I want, something to keep the laptop from getting scratched in my backpack, and it fits perfectly even with the 9 cell battery.
