I ordered a silver 13.3" PC LappyMat off their website on Feb. 8, which was indicated as in stock. However, to date, I haven't received any shipping confirmation or the actual product. I've emailed them twice and they have not replied. It's been quite a while and I'm obviously concerned I've been fleeced. Has anyone else experienced anything similar from them?

Have you tried to call them?

I noticed a phone number on their website.

No, they haven't given me a tracking number. They haven't sent me anything directly -- the only thing I got was a PayPal confirmation of my payment. I'll try giving them a call this week.

The same thing happened to me. I ordered a silver 13,3" Lappymat on January 23rd. I wrote them two emails after two weeks but didn't get any answer.
Surprisingly the Lappymat finally arrived on Saturday.

I bought a mat from this site too. I don't know what's going on with it though. No confirmation message. Sent email, no response. Called the number from the website and I got some guy's voicemail. It seems so shady.

Good thing I used my AMEX when paying with paypal. I'm giving them one more week until I stop payment on it.

I would second this advice since you guys are having problems with lappymats.com. I ordered and received my shaggymac within a week. They sent confirmation and status emails, so i was never really scared.

The awesome part is.. I wasn't sure if I really wanted to purchase the Shaggymac so i just left it in My Cart. Next thing I know they send me an email thanking me just for considering to purchase it, and offered me 10% off just because of that. Needless to say, I was sold :)

You aren't the only one. I am in the process of filing a claim.

If you have heard anything from him, let me know!
I think he fell off the map. I did call the phone number and got a personal voice mail (didn't leave message)

I am having the same problem. Except in my case they sent me the mats, but their 13.3" didnt even cover the pertinent area of the screen nor did it include the cleaning cloths that were mentioned. The guy told me that they were going to ship me a replacement - never recieved it. I have been calling and emailing constantly to no avail. I even tried filing a paypal claim, but paypal says the purchase was ineligible.

I was just searching around to see if anyone else had any issues with lappymats and came across this thread. Glad to see I'm not the only one! (You know what they say...misery loves company.) :)

Anyway - same story for me - I ordered a mat over two months ago. The payment was by paypal, so my card was charged immediately. I waited a few weeks, heard nothing. Wrote several emails, heard nothing. I called the number on their site, but as someone mentioned, it was just someone's personal greeting - nothing regarding lappymats specifically, so I didn't leave a message.

I then filed a complain with paypal. Their timeframe for dispute resolution passed (I think it was 20 business days, but not sure) and then they contacted me saying I could escalate the claim. I did that, and after a few days, they wrote back saying they "ruled" in my favor and would try to recover the funds. Just this week, I finally got credit for my order.

I did do a search before ordering, and it seemed like there were enough good reviews on various sites for me to not be concerned. So - I don't know if something just happened to the guy (it seemed like a small operation, just run by a few people) or if he's actively trying to cheat people. But, everyone should be able to eventually get their money back from paypal - it just may take a bit of time.

I guess I'll start looking into shaggymac...

It's not there at the moment. Not long ago it disappeared and came back a day or two later. I figured it was only a server glitch. I ordered two lappymats on July 21 and received the order confirmation from Paypal. I haven't heard from lappymats at all though. I wish I'd seen this thread earlier.

www.lappymats.com is still not working, though now there is an Apache server message. Also the email I sent them came back. When is the last time anyone received anything from them? I ordered 2 weeks ago using paypal.

You might as well start the complaint process with PayPal. Unfortunately, I'm finding out with this experience PayPal isn't all it's hyped up to be. They got me $2.22 back out of my $17.55, and said they're working to get the rest back from the vendor (I'm not holding my breath). Moreover, you can't actually communicate with the PayPal Resolution Dept. So, if you have a problem and you've used your credit card through PayPal (NEVER use a bank draft or PayPal funds), you have to wait for their process to be complete, and THEN file a complaint with your card issuer. I think all my purchases will be directly from my card in the future; I KNOW they'll give me full credit back if there's ever a problem. I'm just glad this was a small purchase; Lappymats appears to be out of business.

The Lappymats website is back online -- for the moment anyway.
Still haven't heard back from them by phone message, and my emails to them are returned as undeliverable.
I filed a complaint at Paypal, though it doesn't sound like I'll get much money back. How is it they only get you $2.22 back out of $17.55?

That's all they've been able to recover from "Matt." They claim they'll continue trying to get the rest; again, I'm not holding my breath. It'll be nice if they do, but I'm chalking it up as a loss and have already ordered from Shaggymac.

Oh, and to speed things along on your claim: PayPal says you've got 20 days to work things out with the vendor and then you can escalate your complaint...don't bother waiting - escalate it right now, and send them a link to this thread so they can see yours is not an isolated case. It's pretty obvious Lappymats isn't doing business any more; and they are NOT going to talk to you, so why wait?

It's another foul on PayPal that they've obviously been getting complaints about this business, yet they continue to facilitate his stealing money from people. I am so done with PayPal; I shudder to think what would have happened if this had been a $2000 transaction ("We've ruled in your favor, but could only recover $2.22"); yikes!

My claim was automatically escalated as soon as I made it (maybe because of previous problems Paypal has had with Lappymats?)

Here's what Paypal shows about the current status of my claim:

I wonder what would happen if I disputed the Paypal charge on my credit card.
Paypal has my credit card number, but I've never given them access to my bank account.

    July 21, 2008 -- paid $33.50 for two lappymats.
August 16 2008 --$14.22 partial refund after I complained to Paypal.
September 17, 2008 -- received notification that lappymats.com was refunding the additional $18.98. Lappymats claims the item was returned by the shipping company (which I don't believe). This is the first time I've received ANY email at all from lappymats.com.

Did anyone else receive a full refund?

    Shaggymac ROCKS.

I have purchased a number of things from them. QUICK service. Easy. Just a great seller.

    Don't bother with lappymats.com. Go with shaggymac.com.
