I mean those very thin boom mics that you see quite a lot in TV. I use the Beyer MMX 300 quite often in my everyday Skyping / recording and while the mic is one of the best-pickup articles I've come across in a consumer headset, I thought I can probably go one better - especially as I can then get the mic to talk to the Fireface. Also, I have some of the highest-end headphones out there and it would be nice if I could use them as headsets without major compromises.
I wonder if there are any PA/broadcast guys out there who have experience of these worn mics - I'm wondering, among other things, whether they can be worn in tandem with a headphone. And if not, whether there are other headworn systems that can work with a headphone. Just in the consideration phase at the moment, but it would be good to narrow down the possibilities before I went to the pro audio shop to see if there's anything particularly workable.

headphones that cost hundreds of dollars-> microphones that cost hundreds of dollars? Sounds like double trouble for comparisons.
Anyway, good luck on your quest. -
Well, one of the questions would be how much of a hassle would to be to put on, manage cables, etc. Purely for home use - not anticipating mobile need.
Right now I'm juggling three classes of headphone/sets in my home office: Gaming (G35), general purpose-skyping (MMX 300) and music listening (Ultrasone Edition 8 / Beyerdynamic Tesla T1 - and I'm also considering shifting the Orpheus into the home office as it is a bit of a dust collector in the living room, although given the fact that I tend to roll over headphones with my chair rather often would make that probably quite unwise).
It would seem logically speaking to be easier, more practical and to combine the last two into one by a high-quality worn mic. But so far it's never been that simple. The MMX is easy to pop on and use, and while I would be willing to make a small compromise of usability if the quality increase is high enough, I don't want it to be an ordeal - I'd be looking for as little hassle in wearing as possible. As I said, exploring options for now.
Anyone have experience with worn headset mics?
