Ive spent money on some XL cartridges and I cant use them on my newer printer cause I get a message on my Photosmart 6510 saying that the cartridges are for older generation printers. THats BS, its 564 the same cartridge that my last printer took which was a Photosmart plus. I looked at the expiration date on the boxes and says they expired last month. is there a way to by pass that somewhere in the software. I tried looking in the settings for any date settings but found nothing.

that's what you get by buying overpriced hp cartridges.
next time buy other brand generic cartriges with ARC chips.

it can be a problem if a cartridge has a built-in printhead. printheads need to be replaced from time to time. but they usually last for tens of thousands of printings.

if printheads are not built in, then the cartridges are just a ink container and last for more then a century. they can be refilled.
buying bulk ink and filling cartridges leads to 99% savings. not kidding. just compare the price of 1 liter of bulk ink to the price of 1 hp cartridge and how many ml it has.

like I said. you need a ARC chip to do what you want.
