Looks wise, g9 is trying to look too modern which ends up making it look to retro like the original stars wars stuff, which looked old modern (if that makes any sense at all). Lets just see how it performs. Also looks like the warning about the g5 being for people with big hands, seems like this one is looking even bigger.

The mouse has a very boxy shaped. I'm more used to curvy mice.

As for the keyboard, i'm glad they got rid of the G keys, now it's an even better keyboard, but it's still a very expensive keyboard.

I can still play games well with just a generic HP keyboard and mouse.

What makes you guys dislike the mouse? It looks pretty awesome in my opinion. Is it because it looks kind of a square? rectangle?

Funny how you said it looks like star wars stuff, I thought the same thing.

It looks like somebody killed darth vader and turned him into a mouse.

I certainly hope that the key lights are brighter as the old G15 can be hard to read in a bright room.

well its currently being advertised as a mouse :p

what i want to know, is why the massive reduction in G keys. the G11/15 has 18 or something, compared to 6.

i know that :p i asked why though. i quite like having 18, cause for games like warcraft 3 where different races have different shortcuts, i just put different combinations for the different groups. now having only six would ruin that.

I doubt that they could do that. The LED screen for the keyboard( the one shows bullets, character health, etc) is built in, and not a close and open flap display.

I have the MX Bluetooth desktop with the MX1000 keyboard which also has that little LCD screen. I really like it. On the other hand, it becomes much less useful when you're not controlling your music from across the room, like with a bluetooth keyboard with media control.

I got the chance to play with both of these at BlizzCon this year, so here's my current take.

I'm not a fan of the design changes to the G15 keyboard, but from an aesthetics standpoint, I can see why they made the changes; according to the rep, the reason for the change was due to the fact that people complained the keyboard was just too damn big with those extra 18 keys. I wish they'd just re-brand this the G15 Lite or something...I don't want to see support for my keyboard getting dropped in favor of this new revision.

As for the G9, I am seriously considering picking one of these up. While the weight adjustments are nice, if you're into that sort of thing, the main draw for me is the inclusion of the MX free scrolling wheel and the return of the forward and backward buttons to the right-hand thumb rest. I currently use a G7, so when I asked about why the new one wasn't wireless, he said that user feedback for the wireless mouse was positive, but there were still some technical flaws with it, so they decided to return to the wired design. Also, the mouse has two interchangeable grips: a hard textured plastic, and a rubber grip. Pretty nice all around.

EDIT: Quick note...I guess they're calling the new keyboard the "G15 Keyboard" and the old one "G15 Gaming Keyboard"...who knows how long that'll last...

Are the weights the same between the G5 vs the G9?

I think the weight system on the G5 and the G9 are the same. There's a little removable tray that you can add the individual weights to.

That would take a pretty massive amount of battery power to keep it going for long. I'm sure thats the reason that they haven't already gone wireless with it. Personally in my mind I don't see why you would want a wireless keyboard unless you don't use your computer at a desk, which is feasible, but not while your gaming.

In my opinion the mouse's design is just too "ew". Used to curves like on Razers. Also, I like the G keys on my G15, so I wouldn't want the new G15, I actually use most of the G15 keys

i'm guessing you don't have cable problems? i have SOO many cables everywhere, it's a nightmare. I like a wireless keyboard cuz then i can keep the wires away, plus i have more freedom with it. If i want to put it on the keyboard desk i can, if i want to move it up to the real desk, i can, all without having to move cables around ;). that's why i like wireless.... but we all have preferences.

Who spends time looking at the side of a computer? Sure, you could get a wireless mice/ keyboard, leaving only the power cord, but the novelty of design wears off after 5 minutes.

EDIT: Looking at the iMac, I don't like the black border, glossy screen, and Radeon 2400/2600. I hear they use slower laptop parts as well (Merom, 2.5" HD, SODIMMs, etc).

Well, why do you want to buy a computer that has so many wires to deal with? It looks ugly, and it gets dusty. :D It's just a pain and head ache. And, you can bring the iMac anywhere pretty much. It has some pretty powerful components, and it's possible for Apple to update it when the Leopard OS comes out this October.

Are you crazy?? jk, but seriously dude. how could a wireless keyboard and mouse leave on the power cord?? Funny, but i plug my monitor into the back of my pc, same with my speakers, my webcam, my gamepad, my external DVD and now my recording stuff. I don't see how you could POSSIBLY not have at least 4 cables around your desk..... don't forget the printer ;)

Too one person maybe they need/want the less wires. However to me I appreciate the PC' ability to have alot of things plugged into it.

Plus you know that picture is so setup, there are wires there that are not even in use.

I personally have my dvi out to my monitor, a 1/8" cable with a Y at the end that goes to my headphones and into my sterio reciever, my keyboard and mouse both go thru usb so I have neather of those standard cords and my webcam is going thru usb. Then there is the power cord and my RJ45 for internet.

Its very neat and even tho my system is like 2.5years old now it is still stronger than the new imac :/
