Hi. Is the Logitech MX610 a good mouse for notebook? I can't decide which one to buy: MX610 or Microsoft notebook mouse 6000? Any comments? Thank you very much.

i checked it out at best buy before settling on the LX7. the mx610 felt really cheap and flimsy. the click wasn't reassuring at all. you could try playing with one at the store, but i decided against it. i went with the LX7 even though the sale at the time had the mx610 about 10 bucks less. the savings weren't worth it to me.

Thank you for your comment. So I may go with Microsoft notebook mouse 6000. The LX7 is good but doesn't have a button that can be reached by thumb.

Didn't like it much either. ALso they just came out with a new left hand edition of the 610 and are getting ready to release a notebook mouse that uses a laser engine. I have and use a logitech G5 myself.

What is the notebook mouse that uses a laser engine? Is it V400? I read a lot of posts saying that V400 has bad tracking. G7 would be nice if it has long battery life.

Personally, I like my MX610. It's lightweight, tracks well, has incredible range, loads of handy buttons (as well as features that don't work very well). The shape is not ideal for me (I'm in to the very basic mouse shape), but it works well enough, and I think the build quality is superb. It feels very solid, and all of the buttons feel pretty good.
The claimed battery life is around 3 months on a pair of AA batteries (and it can run on just one if you want it to be really lightweight). I haven't had a chance to really test the lifespan, however, but I've been using it for a month so far and the battery status hasn't decreased a bit.
I'm not sure how suitable it would be for the notebook mouse role, though. The MX610 is a good deal larger than mice intended to be used portably, because it's really meant to be a wireless desktop mouse. That said, the receiver is tiny, which is a big plus, and you never ever have to worry about turning the mouse on or off, because it does that itself when you plug in or remove the reciever, which is something you do a lot with a laptop. -
Save yer money, go for the MX510~! I'm sure you can find it for a lot less now.
It performs amazingly well. I think all this tech' for mice are just overkill, really.
The mx510 was overkill and now they have stuff that's just unbelievable. Save yer money and get the MX510.
It looks great, feels great, and performs great.
Cheers,

I bought the MX610 today instead of the MS wireless notebook mouse, which I really hated (im gonna sell it probably). I was enthousiastic about it at first, but then is started making annoying noises, and the scroll wheel got stuck sometimes.
The MX610 though is way better. Feels good, feels solid, buttons are well placed, tracking is very good. It is pretty big if you use it as a notebook mouse, but that is just what makes it feel good. -
Thank you for your comments. There are both positive and negative feedbacks so it is hard to make a decision. Which mouse do you think is the best choice for notebook? I currently have a logitech v200. It works well but doesn't have the backward button.

When/IF Logitech will release a second version of the V400, probably the V400.
Anyone tried Logitech MX610?
