Hi, I know there is the vx revolution for laptops which is smaller but I just ordered the MX because I also have a desktop and I will be using this mouse for both my laptop and my desktop, but I was wondering ..is the MX rev too big or heavy to use with laptops?

I have this mouse....I think it's great! :) It works superb, and it's very esthetically pleasing to look at. ;) Battery lasts about a week with very steady use and it recharges fairly quickly. It's not really heavy to me and fits nicely in the hand.

The scroll wheel is great as are the programmable buttons. I have nothing bad to say about this mouse although it was a bit pricey when I bought it at $150.00 CAN. I use it with my Toshiba Qosmio laptop and it compliments it nicely.

I would say that it is very large for carrying around. I have the VX Revolution, and I wouldn't want to carry anything larger with my notebook. I have an MX1000 at my desk that I use. I like it and it is similar. I can' imagine carrying it around though.

Advantage of the VX, Use AA battery available anywhere when you run out (mine will last about a month). Small Transmitter that fit into the mouse when not in use. No need to carry the charge cradle and look for AC power.

I have this mouse too and I love it. The receiver plugs right into the mouse which is great, it's comfortable, and works great. I highly recommend it.

no, because its marketed as a "desktop" mouse, it has a charging cradle which needs to be plugged in to charge the mouse. If you don't take your laptop everywhere and mainly use it in one place, sure why not. But its not a mouse that you'd want to take for long periods of time unless you plan to take the charging stand with you. do what I did, get a mx for your desktop and vx for the laptop, problem solved!

Yeah, you put the mouse on the cradle to charge it, then the cradle folds up and plugs inside the mouse for travel. :p

Sorry, I wasn't paying attention to the model. I misread the subject as the VX Revolution. That's what I get for replying to a thread after a long, long day. Going forward I'll refrain from posting unless I'm fully conscious. :)

I had the previous generation MX (MX 1000 I think?) for a week but it wouldn't hold a charge for more than 10 minues after the third day. It was an awesome mouse but I was unfortunate enough to get a faulty one.

Yep, VX for laptop and G7 for desktop (I hate non removable rechargable battery in mouse as you will always run out at the worst of time). I like the G7 since it comes with 2 battery packs and one charge in the stand while you use the other in the mouse.

QFT - The VX Revolution is so great because of a couple of things -- the dongle is so tiny it's like half the size of other notebook mice dongles, and the dongle also stores right inside the mouse, which also automatically disengages the battery. The clip on dongles like on the V200 can easily detach itself from the mouse, resulting in wasted battery life and perhaps a lost dongle.

The VX is probably the best designed NB mouse on the market right now.
