Does anyone know if the Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic are compatible with PC's? Specifically, I want to know if anyone has tried using the microphone while gaming, or if they are only compatible with Apple products.

No it will not be compatible. Since there is only one dedicated jack for both sound and mic, it will not work on pc's. PC's need a seperate input mic jack and headphone(sound) output jack.

    That's pretty much it.

On top of that, different mobile phone manufacturers used to use different jacks for their headsets.
So swapping between companies won't work in a lot of cases too.

=> there is no chance the PC will take those any time soon.

    No necessarily.

    Depends on how its wired.

I have noise cacelling headphone for a Sony walkman (X1060) - if I stick it in a standard headphoen socket I get sound on one ear...

My Berry's plug would be too long...

At the moment every manufacturer uses his own design.

For exmaple the BB - the mic is "further down the line" so you can ue normal headphones, thus the headset jack is longer.

My Sony's jack is just divided into more sections.
