Lately my old headset broke (lasted pretty damn long though considering I payed $5 for it). And I wasn't to fond of using it anyways because I already have a normal pair of headphones that had better sound quality.
I was thinking of getting a cheap clip-on mic, like this one for basic voice chatting in games and on ventrilo. Doesn't have to have amazing quality just as long as people can understand me when I say "There is a spy behind you, *name* !"
I don't want to get another headset because then I can't use my nice headphones and a stand mic would be inconvenient.
I'm just worried that a clip on is going to pic up background noise too easily or that the cheap ones just won't be reliable. I'm also finding it unusually hard to find reviews for the cheap ones. Background noise shouldn't be too big of a problem because the loudest source would probably be typing and mouse clicks unless there's like a really loud party next door but thats not too common.
Should I just bite and get a $5 one that might suck, or should I spend like 5x as much and get a $25 one with good reviews that I know will have adequate sound quality and will last? Can anyone recommend me a good cheap one?

From what I hear, the Zalman ZM-Mic 1 is an excellent clip-on mic for its price. Still not as good as a quality headset mic, but it's a pretty popular item paired with quality headphones. It's even a recommended combo buy with the Sennheiser HD555 on Amazon.
Are cheap clip-on mics good enough?
