Good Question. I use a NC2000 for my Asus, it keeps it nice and cool. Without it my HD gets up into the mid 50's C with it the drive stays at 42 C. I am getting a new laptop and even though the cooling is really good I have been looking at another cooler. I came across the new Zalmans and they have tweaked my interest as well. There is no way to tell how much better they are at cooling until we see some reviews, but I would say they probably are no worse at cooling. One thing I notice is they look like they sit up higher than the NC2000. Haven't seen any info on when they will be available either. Also no word on if they are going to discontinue the older models. Have you found any info on availabilty time frame?

with that being said, i'm really interested in how well the changes will affect the cooling results. the nc1k/2k fell short in the CFM department. -
Yeah you either get CFM or higher noise, it's trade off. I like the fact that my NC2000 is really quiet at full fan speed, and as you saw my HD temps were greatly improved. My CPU/GPU were never really a problem temp wise on this laptop, just the HD, in that regard this has been a great cooler for me.
-
Didn't realise there were pictures around. Can't really tell much until some actual reviews come out. I need a cooler for my new HP Envy 15, which gets quite hot under load!
-
as for trading off DB's for CFM's, i didn't have to do that. i went with the cryo LX. some say it's loud, but it's super quiet to me. -

I'm in the same predicament after seeing this deal today http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834998686. What do you guys think? Should I snag the deal?
-
Heard the NC-3000 will be out end april. No idea how accurate this is. Does anyone know the dimensions?
-

looks interesting. it looks like there weren't any changes in their cooling philosophy. they are still using a fan(s) to channel air throughout it's surface, just like the old nc1k/2k's. the biggest differences seem to be in the angle of the cooler's elevation, extra USB ports, and they replaced those 2 dinky fans with a 220mm beast.
can't wait to see the results. i've been dyin for someone to make a cooler that will give the cryo LX some real competition. maybe then NZXT will finally come out with a new version! lol -
More pics.

I'm hoping its something that will fit my current computer and actually make a difference for it; the two I've tried don't do anything for my 40c/50c CPU/GPU common workload temps in a 25c room.
Wait, aren't those actually pretty good? -
They look "cool" ! Hopefully the new design especially the extra vent hole will increase the efficiency of the cooling process.

When would the NC3000 be available for sale?
-
i don't think there is a date set in stone yet. if i remember correctly, there's a rumor about an april release.
-
I ordered an NC2000 from Amazon last week - I guess I'll be returning it! I'd rather have the single 220mm fan. I noticed that the Zalman site has the ZM-NC3000S and ZM-NC3000U listed. Anyone know the difference? I'd assume color (Black vs Silver) but they are both black on the site.
Edit: I downloaded the manuals. S model has 2 USB ports while U model has 4 USB ports plus DC in. -

If you want a 220mm fan cooler dont bother with the NC3000 itll be over priced.
the fan is also likely only 200mm just like most others, something like the Enermax Aeolus, same thing, decent build does have blue led though

Anyone knows what is the estimated price of the NC3000?

I dont mind the price as long as the build quality is good.
Any idea what will be the difference between the NC2500 and the NC3000? -

Anybody have thoughts on the zalman nc2/3000 vs. cryo lx for a desktop replacement?
I have a hp dv7t with intel i7 720m and nvidia gt 320m, both of which are running hot.
It seems as though the heat sink/assembly and fan are located all at one corner ( Replacing Thermal Interface Material on an HP DV7T Laptop | Overclockers)
I'm looking to reduce cpu/gpu by about 4-6 C. -

Hi everyone,
Just a quick question if anyone knows where I can buy the Zalman NC2500 Plus in Switzerland? Or an online shop that delivers to Geneva area?
Thank you for your help.
Thanks on behalf of my overheating Dell Precision M2400 too -
Two things which let the Enermax model down and don't make it a fair comparison for many people (esp those with 17" notebooks):
No usb hub (like the NC3000U) so those short on USB ports will find it irksome. Also, some people prefer notebooks for energy efficiency as well as portability so rather not need to worry about using AC power for the cooler.
The width for the enermax is 33cm whereas the NC3000S/U are 40cm in width. My 17 inch notebook is exactly 40cm in width which seems quite I coincidence.
I'd be interested to hear if anyone has any input of whether having a smaller cooler where the notebook hangs off the edges should not make any difference. The way I see it, if you're getting the allumium model, then having a surface area of allumium which is exactly equal (or more) to the surface area of your notebook is going to be optimal?
If anyone has cash to burn, I think the Cooler Master SF-19 is actually the best notebook cooler around, but it's really expensive (in part due to a USB 3.0 hub built in) and not available in UK anyway.
Lastly, at the moment, the NC3000U is around the same price (or less) than the Enermax Aeolus on most of the UK sites. I'm sure it's the same in the US?
On the other hand, it's a shame Enermax don't put out an updated model with a USB Hub and wider profile which is compatible with a larger range of 17" notebooks so there's more competitive choice out there for people. -
By the way, I can also appreciate the popularity of other models where it is possible to replace the fan with a more effective one.
Checking the Zalman site, it implies that you can't do so with the NC3000 series since they have a similar question in the FAQ and it simply says something about how the model uses a custom zalman fan. However, it's a matter of what's available. I've heard that positioning a 17" notebook on a cooler with this kind of design so that the rubber feet of the notebook sit onto of the rubber ridges on the surface of the cooler helps to provide effective cooling for notebooks where the main intake fan is positioned towards the side rather than the centre. Of course this is due to greater clearance which encourages to air being blown up to spread out further so hopefully more reaches the intake fan and vents which are located towards the end of many 17" notebooks.
I think this is why some reviews have had spectacular results with 15" notebooks and this cooler but people with 17" models are not so impressed - i.e. the massive fan is able to blow directly into the intake fan of the 15" models.
What with undervolting and recently cleaning my intake fan and exhaust, I am averaging 55 degrees C (down from 80-90 degrees C) so I'm not expecting anything too miraculous since I've already seen this during the last 24 hours, lol.
I'll report back how the NC3000 works with the M17. -
Hello guys,
which one is more silent and have a good cooling quality?
zm-nc2000, zm-nc2500 plus or zm-nc3000???
Are the Zalman NC2500 and NC3000 worth the wait
