    I dont need that much of a surface. the steelseries mini qck is 9.8x8.3 and that still seems a little too big for me.

    well said. or make one yourself.

    also, remember that you might want to rest your hand and forearm somewhere... i use the massive ROCCAT Taito, just keeping my mouse towards the very top and resting my hand and arm on the bottom part... very comfortable.

    Scissors are definitely a good solution.

    However, the simplest solution has already been answered in your question. Use a non-glossy postcard.

    you'd have to tape the postcard down though... plus, won't exactly be comfortable for your wrist and forearm.
