Many of you have been asking me about the Astro Scout gaming Backpack, so Here is a full review on the backpack, after roughly two months of use. I was surprised to see that there was no write up on this awesome bag!![]()

This backpack was designed for the on the go gamer, and they did a very good job in doing so. This bag has over 2200 cubic inches of space to store both your Laptop and your gaming console at the same time, along with all your cables, controllers, mice, or whatever else you may bring with you. Packing up for a LAN party will never be the same!
As for the main compartment of the bag. There is one very well padded large sleeve for either your computer or gaming console. I keep my laptop( Alienware M15x R2 ) in this place, and when i carry both my computer and Xbox360, the Xbox fits nicely in the part between the sleeve and the inside of the compartment, this whole part is very well padded, including the bottom!
The Front zipper compartment as five mesh pockets to store all the little things that might get lost in other bags. Also in the front part there are Two elastic sleeves made to place two gaming console controller in, I use these pouches for my Mouse, and external hard drive. Along with all the pockets and sleeves there is also a place to safely store your gaming headset, and mix amp. the designers of Astro designed this spot to fit there gaming headset the A40, and mix amp. If you don't know what the A40's look like, they are pretty big, so most regular sized headsets will fix easily. On the same part of the bag there is a vertical zippe with a speaker jack as the zipper( Astro is a audio company ), the compartment isn't very large but good for a calculator, wallet, and other things of that size; located on the very front of the backpack. Located on the top of the front part is a horizontal zipper that is extremely well padded with a faux fur material, i keep my keys, cellphone and sunglasses in this part.
Last but certainly not least, the Design and comfort. As for the design you can clearly see that this bag is a very sleek clean looking bag, with tons of space. The inside liner is lined with Astros "space men" its a very artistic touch that i really enjoy. The durability of the zippers is awesome the zippers are very strong! The straps are extremely comfortable, I carry this bag ALL DAY LONG around campus with my laptop and many books with no problem. Both the straps and back support have a sturdy but soft comfortable padding.
below i have a few pictures of the backpack and what i carry inside( if you would like to see anything else let me know)

-
Ahh astros are a little overpriced since they are the "official" MLG headsets,
I like the Tritton 720, has its own amp and it makes me happy -
-
Added Pictures of the Mix Amp pouch.

Does anyone else here use this bag ?
It's hard to believe that im the only one that does ?
-

-
Im part of the Elite scout users
-
great review, really inclined to get this in the near future -
-
Thanks for the review n pictures, any chance of measuring the laptop compartment? I see the M15X fits fine, kinda wondering if G73 would fit there with its 18'' factor.
-
id say it would fit, but ill make sure for you.
-
Can you comment on how weather proof it is?
Does it keep out the rain/snow well?
Thank you for the review. -
It should my M15x fits with free space. What are the dimensions of the M17x ?
Your very welcomeand the material itself is very weather proof, also the zipper is rain proof. the only down flaw to the weather proofing is that there is a gap between the two zipper taps on the zipper track. if its raining or snowing i just bring the two tabs to the right/left of the bag then its fine because the zipper itself is very tight. hope this helped you out
-
Hey about the G73 and M17x fitting. the sleeve that you would put the laptop in is as big as the bag is, so the bag is:
14" long x 7" wide x 19" tall
* the sides will steach an inch or so and still zipper. -
Looks like a nice backpack, but 93$ for a 80$ backpack is a bit, humm, excessive...
-
Btw it looks a lot like the XPS backpack, not fully but some. -
-
-
Yea that is alot LOL.
-
Which XPS backpack ? -
-
-
has anyone bought one yet ??
-
I just have a Nike backpack and throw my laptop in a Built NY sleeve inside of it. Then again, I don't roll around with an xbox either.
I do need a new bag though. This baby is going on 6+ years and has gone all over the world with me. Carried some heavy heavy weight for a bunch of intercontinental trips too. Thanks for the review. When I decide to get a new bag I will definitely look into it. OH, do the shoulder straps have that jello stuff? That's the thing I love most about the Nike one is that the shoulder straps are really really comfortable with that jello "air" stuff. -
haha i know what you mean, i had a bag i LOVED, but sadly my m15x didnt fit
so i got this, ive fallin back in love
. No it doesn't have what your talking about but it definitely has a very soft spongy feeling material.
-
A little update for those who are interested: The newest scout does not come with the "stash" pocket located on the right shoulder strap, so if you order this now it wont have the pocket. not sure why astro got rid of it but they did
-
Does anyone know if this bag will fit the ASUS G73 laptop? Or even the Alienware M17x (roughly same size)?
-
Yes it should, like i said a couple posts back, my m15x fits with ease, and with space to spare. It should fit, the measurements are a couple post back, Good luck ! this is a great bag
-
AWESOME! Just awesome...awesome review, awesome backpack. Man, i would wish that as my Christmas present xD
-

would this work well to carry a 15.6" laptop (thinkpad) and a few textbooks/notebooks, plus other small stuff? aka for college use -
Yes, my M15x fits with some light books and notebooks. Along with other misc. items. a thinkpad will fit with ease.
-
What's the 3.5" jack on the front pocket for? I've always wondered, it puzzled me...
-
To the OP and Steggy, thank you for this information!! Astro Scout is 1 of the 3 backpacks I'm currently looking at, and if you know me, I'm hella picky. So it's gotta be a pretty good bag to be on my list
