    Hi

I am considering an Asus K55 series but I need to have a secondary monitor and wondered what the maximum resolution I can get to?

The display on the K55 itself is 1366x768 which is not really enough as I am looking at minimum of 1920x1080.

    Thanks, Peter

You should have no problems running an external monitor in 1920x1080 resolution on the ASUS K55. Just make sure you use extended desktop mode (where you can drag windows between the two screens) instead of duplicate mode (where the same thing is shown on both screens).

And on a different note, which version of the ASUS K55 are you looking at?

I'm looking at a K55A which should be adequate for my needs regarding speed etc provided I stick 8Gb of memory in it. It seems that the only real difference between them is the graphics cards and as long as I can get the 1920 x 1080 I'd be happy. I'll also need to run SQL Server 2008 developer (not express) on it as well as Visual Studio 2010. I don't think we have all the versions available in the UK though. It is difficult to tell as the UK Asus website is out of date and doesn't even show the K55 series, just the older K52 and K53.
