Am buying, privately an Asus U2E. The previous owner has lost, mislaid, whatever, the Recovery and Utility Cds that came with the computer. Any thoughts about how to get new ones, please??

Phone up Asus and inquire, you may end up paying up to $15 for postage and discs etc.. Or ask Nicely for someone on NBF who owns an Asus U2E to upload an ISO file of the recovery discs/post em but alas You may end up paying for the postage again

download drivers from support.asus.com, intel, and nvidia; they've probably updated stuff.. for the image, I always use a clean vista cd with the license key on the sticker on your laptop.. I get better results this way than using asus' crapware

Let say I use a original Windows disc to install instead of the ASUSs' one. Would the OLED screen/ touch sensitive/ overclocking program still work on the ASUS G50??

Well, it would install the operating system, but the drivers wouldn't be installed so you might be limited on your ability to do things.
