Hooking up audio from laptop to LCD TV, RCA to Audio Cable works but my VGA input is on a different channel?
I have hooked up VGA to VGA and get great picture and am trying to hook up audio from laptop to LCD TV, RCA to Audio Cable works but my VGA input is on a different channel? So on " Video 1" i hear the audio but have no picture. and on " PC" I see picture but have no sound, I am wondering how to connect them. I saw an audio input on the back of my tv to hook in under the vga so i tried to hook an auxilary cord from my laptop audio jack t it, but the sound didn't go through, any advice would be great!

Read your TV's instruction manual. It's probably a 3.5mm plug on your laptop to a 3.5mm plug on your TV.

Thanks but as I said i already tried to hook in the auxilary cord

This isn't going to go very far over the internet. Read your TV's instruction manual, or google for one.

The auxilary cord im using is a male to male 3.5 mm jack. Its the same one i use to hook my ipod to my car stereo.

If the audio jack (3.5mm) on your TV is not complementary to the VGA connection, what might it be for?
On my TV, the audio jack right next to the VGA is exactly for that, though it is slightly too close and I have to use a silly adaptor to have both plugged in at the same time. -

I agree with namaiki. If you still don't get any audio, because it seems you're indeed using the right cable, it maybe a firmware problem with the TV, or just a problem in general with your TV. If it's new I would ask them to swap it out or see what your warranty is.

The most straight forward way to get sound out of your notebook is to use the headphone jack (3.5/mini)

To connect to the TV, you'll need one with RCA (which all TVs have) on the TV end. If you want to take the next step in audio like me, you can channel the sound through your AV system. Which should be many time more dynamic than your puny TV speakers. Which are better than your even punier laptop speakers. -
Thanks for answers, but ive checked and its not a firmware problem, and @Krane , I have that cord but it plays the sound on my "video 1" channel whereas the VGA displays on the "PC" channel, i cant figure how to make it play on the PC channel or any other solution.

For the record, that's one thing people should always remember to consider when purchasing a new product: What are the cords you'll need? And the type and number of connection you have, and how well will they integrate into your current (or future) hardware.
If you have a stereo system (even a portable one), you can always run your audio through that. -
