    Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 Dynamic Audiophile Headphones [ATH-AD700] - $149.00 : PC Case Gear

Anyone had any experience with these? I'm considering getting these because they seem quite good.

Or if anyone has had experience with Corsair Gaming Audio Series HS1 USB Gaming Headset
Corsair Gaming Audio Series HS1 USB Gaming Headset [CA-HS1] - $109.00 : PC Case Gear

Because that looks pretty good, but I have no super need for a gaming headset, but if it's really good and compares to the other headphones I could consider it because of its price.

or maybe this could come into the running? http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=116_998&products_id=13738

    Cheers

The AD700 are super great. RobSomeone here has them also.

However $149.00 is not a bargain price for them.

    $89.00 on Amazon right now
Amazon.com: Audio Technica ATH-AD700 Open-air Dynamic Audiophile Headphones: Electronics

May be cheaper to get it from Amazon and ship it to Aus.

    Things about AD700

    Good
    > Super Wide Soundstage
    > Music sounds "around you" not "in your head"
    > Ultra Comfortable
    > Self Adjusting Fit
    > Easy to drive (no amp needed)

    Bad
    > Open air means no isolation from sounds around you in loud areas or if you want to keep quiet to yourself.
    > Not much bass in these headphones because they do not have a tight seal on your head and are open air

Id recommend AD700 easy for anything/anybody except music that focus's on bass like trance/electronic

If you want a more neutral headphone that has some bass and isolation the A700 is the closed version of the AD700 and just as good but losing the benefits of open air.

I guarantee the AD700 sound quality is many times better than that corsair headset. The only reason you may want the Corsair is for the microphone but just get a good desktop mic, or get the Zalman clip on mic for your headphones.

Or be very creative and do a mod like I did for my A700 & AD700

Do you know to calculate shipping to Australia?
I went through the ordering process but It does not indicate anything in the shipping preferences and I'm up to the payment method which isn't exactly what I want to go through just yet..

Is the A700 the same quality as the AD700 though? Because I like to listen to club music generally along with all the other various genres.

Personally I'm a fan of virtual surround for gaming. I guess it depends on what is more important to you.

I also personally think that people tend to overrate Audio-technicas due to their looks first of all, and you have to bear in mind that a lot of people decide on one thing of anything based on their research and assumptions, then convince themselves it's the best.

Both AD700 / A700 are OK, but no great shakes in the overall scheme of things - and the only real reason I would recommend the AD700 is that it is going for a huge reduction at Amazon that does bring it into contention with other comparable phones.

    The questions would be:
    - Where would you use it
    - How much isolation do you need, if any
    - Do you need a mic, and how important is the mic
    - Your gaming / music priority ratio
    for starters.

A700 & AD700 are like brother and sister. Pretty much the same build/quality just one has the characteristics of being open air, and the other closed.

I use a trio of headphones to fill all musical roles.

AD700 wide soundstage, low bass. Great for gaming and classical.

A700 in the middle good all around for almost any listening

Ultrasone Hfi 2400 for heavy bass like Trance/House

For on the go I use Logitech Triple.Fi 10 IEM's

I think no matter what you get between the A700 and AD700 you will be happy, but the A700 probably can fill more roles. On the flip side though Robsomeone only has the AD700 and is very happy with them.

Okay well the A700 sounds like a better fit for my use then.
When shipping what are the headphones under? Because there is a price for the shipment and a price per weight measure.

If you must have an A-series I'd recommend stretching for the 900. First one that's somewher near competitive with similar-priced closed phones IMO.

The AD700 is a very good-sound headphone, the sound is light and airy. Acoustic music sounds especially good. That said, there is little bass to speak of so bass-heads need not apply.

Another headset to consider is the Razer Carcharias. I bought one on impulse and it has terrific sound quality for a headset; I'd rate it just a a bit below the AD700. The bass is quite strong even though they are open cans. Between the AD700 and the Carcharias, I prefer the latter for gaming and almost everything.

Thanks for that, I've just sent him a message so hopefully he can give me a good indicator in regards to shipping.

The 900 is double the price though, which would indicate that it's set at a different market. I'm no music enthusiast so I'm generally thinking that the 700's would be sufficient for my needs.

For a fun pair of headphones, you could try the PortaPro (again, not much use if you're in a noisy environment):
    Koss PortaPro Headphones

Though it's quite misplaced compared to these other suggestions...

Theres actually 1 more page after that before you can place the order, and that page will show you the shipping options.

The standard shipping for the AD700 to AU is $70.97 which is nearly as much as the headphones itself lol.

    Items: USD 86.95
    Shipping & Handling: USD 70.97

    Total Before Tax: USD 157.92
Estimated Tax To Be Collected:* USD 0.00

You are better off buying it from PCcasegear.

I've enjoyed my AD700 headphones for the few years I've had them, though now I would prefer more powerful headphones with noise isolation. Don't get me wrong, this is a really good set of headphones. Sound is bright and detailed, bass is sharp, and with the right source the soundstage is incredible (most other headphones couldn't say that about their soundstage). They are comfortable to wear as well, partly thanks to the open-air design. I'd recommend them as a pair to wear at-home since they're too big to carry around in my opinion. Overall, it is very solid and they can sometimes surprise you with good they sound or how much detail and depth they can add.

Have you had experience with these guys? The sound of having your goods sent to someone is sounds misleading but I'm sure that is only because of it's concept.
So I've heard good and bad reviews on google, opinions please?

I just came across this and found this very informative, it indicates three sites that offer this forward shipping.

Idk... I know that the first night I got them I just listened to music on my computer for hours. I liked them so much that even though they aren't very portable I took them with me to Ireland for the long car rides and 7+ hour plane rides. I am using them right now. I've probably had them for... huh... in feb it will be 2 years now (I looked on amazon).

I would probably buy them again... They are still around the same price.

I also used them for gaming... I took them to a lan party for a CS:S tourny once
    About that...

If I were still going to lan parties and stuff I would actually not get the A700 and get the ATH-AD700 instead. Because they were closed I couldn't hear my team mates very good (who were sitting next to me) and I had a hard time hearing announcements from the stage.

This is not a complaint about the headphones... They worked.. lol.
It's just in that situation the AD700's would of been more appropriate.

I have a pair of Sony MDR-XD100's how do these compare, because I'm trying to decide whether to purchase some headphones for $100 or a new sound system for my desk for $180/200

The AD and A700 are much better.
But the MDR-XD100's are cheap, they look like they are worth it for $15:
Amazon.com: Sony MDR-XD100 Stereo Headphones: Electronics

I can't really advise you on new cans or sound system... I only bothered posting in this thread because I have experience with the AD and A700. When I was doing my research on new headphones around 2 years ago I found that these headphones are one of the best deals on headphones under $200. $115 for A700, $90 for AD700.

Good luck with whatever you do. Sorry I couldn't be more help then just giving praise to the headphones lol.

Haha no worries mate, I'm just skeptical whether I want to purchase them because of the excessively high shipping costs so unless I can find a really good deal I doubt i'll be hooked just yet. They do look like a very good set, and my friend said he has used them before in China and said they were very good and wanted a pair himself.
    So cheers for your help.

    Btw have you tried this?

I have looked at the mail forwarding options but can't honestly get my head around it's reliability or accuracy. I would like to know that an honest business is shipping my product from their warehouse right to me instead of having an order processed through a third party. I have a friend in America at the moment who's bringing me back some stuff and he also visits there regularly so I could have an order go to his warehouse If I needed.

In regards to your purchases, which sorts of websites do you use to shop from China?

    Cheers

I only order little things from them. No headphones or laptops. Like some stuff for a DS.
