Hey guys,
I always forget to backup my laptops, desktops, ps3 etc.. I was wondering if I could build something like a file server that would backup all my stuff automatically once a week or something like that. I do all my work on my laptop and usually forget to backup.
Are there any tutorials on this or pointers?

You can try something like SyncToy. It's simple program for backups and synchronizing files or folders.
If you are tech savy and like to use the command-line interface then Robocopy is a powerful backup program and is already built into Windows; however, you will need to create the script/batch file from scratch. Then you will need to run that script/batch file with Task Scheduler. -
I already use SyncToy, but I was thinking of something automatic that would back up the folders I specify every few days.
I'll do some research on this, but I just thought I would ask if anyone know of anything like this. -
Windows Home Server Backup and Restore Files and PCs
WHS can do it automatically. -
+1 for WHS. No-brainer. Then you can run a cloud backup service on the WHS.
I don't use Crashplan since I basically have my own cloud, but look here for how to set it up with WHS. It's one of the cheapest cloud backup services.

Here are the instructions on how to set it up.

It can't be any simplier than this if you already have SyncToy installed. -
You could just use the standard windows backup to a server or even usb drive. Just make sure the computer is on at that time and connected to either. WHS works well for backups too, but Im not a fan of the system as it doesnt let you toy with directories remotely only files. As for local backups though it does that very well.

I guess I could make a file server out of my old PC and use a mapped folder to sync to.. not sure if that would work though.
