I've been looking around for a perfect cooling pad for my new Acer. While it runs cool enough I needed something to cool my new laptop when it's in the enclosed space. I found a perfect cooling pad for it and it's been getting great reviews, but it's still no where to be found for sale...

That looks very nice. I have also been looking for a cooler, and that one looks promising. Ill bet that it is very expensive though!
-
Well, depends what you mean by expensive, but this one is priced at $50
-
Have you tried it? I noticed that it runs either on USB or DC power. If you run it with DC power will the fans go faster compared to USB? 2000 RPM X 4 fans seems pretty nice compared to my targus cooler at the moment with 2 fans x 1500 RPM and plus my targus is designed for 15 inchers so my 17 incher kind of hangs out. I agree it does look very promising. Hopefully someone on this website will grab one and write up a review of some sort.

I am read to buy one as soon as it's out... btw there are plenty of reviews:

Yeah, I read a couple reviews linked from the manufacturers website. They all seem to love it as far as I know and it seems very efficient (in cooling, not power saving). One of my gripes is that half of the reviews dont mention wether they are testing the unit sucking or blowing. The Targus cooling pad I have right now seems to suck the air and blow it out the back.

it is definitely the most versatile cooler on the market. i am gonna pick one up for sure

Hello all,
This is my first posting on this board.
I joined to look for information on notebook coolers. I have a Dell Inspiron 9300 (yes 17" wide) that I use at my home office desk and it really gets hot. Finding this thread so quickly really pleases me. I have the Cyberguys catalog open to the notebook coolers but nothing there "fills the bill". I am looking for a cooler that will NOT be usb powered (I want to have AC power to prclude additional load on my notebook power supply). Long story short - I love the cooler shown in this thread - is anybody selling it in the USA yet? If so I will order one today.
Am I correct in thinking I would need to plug the cooler's USB connector into a AC powered USB hub to preclude plugging it into the notebook? I read the reviews but saw no mention of an AC adapter.
Regards, John -
It looks like it has AC plug, but the cable it comes with is AC <-> USB, There are AC adapters for USB cables. I don't think it will be an issue.

Klas,
Thanks

I created a thread about the Titan TTC-G4TZ about a month ago, but it wasn't available in the U.S. at the time. However, since then they have become available at:
http://www.inland-products.com/titan.htm
I ordered one on Friday, July 27, and I am expecting delivery sometime this week. They do not state a price on their website, but I ended up paying $69.95, after shipping. A bit pricey, but hopefully worthwhile.
Inland Products is the U.S. distributor for Titan. Because of the fact that they are a fairly small company, you will need to call or email them to order. Here is the sales representative that helped me:

I'm sure the Titan "Magic Pad" will be available at other retailers eventually, but for now Inland Products is the only company I could find.

Have you tried Vicious ULC (ultimate laptop cooler)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ox2eaBjDfEg -
keep us posted on how the titan works out.
-
I will, hopefully it has decent performance. Seems awfully expensive, I guess that could be due to the fact that it was purchased from a distributor and not a retailer. If newegg ever carries it I'm sure it will be under $50.
-
I use TigerDirect. They have better prices than NewEgg, and I can pay without having a credit card
I hope they have it soon. -
Finally tested out the Titan, here are some results:
I played STALKER to test the temps
Without Cooler: CPU-50C Memory-54C Chipset-52C GPU-86C HDD-42C
With Cooler: CPU-47C Memory-50C Chipset-52C GPU-83C HDD-39C
STALKER doesn't use dual core, that's why the CPU temps are fairly low (undervolting helps too). So far I've been happy with the cooler, it's sufficient for my needs. I'm sure the performance is similar to most notebook coolers out there. However, one great advantage of the cooler is how well it fits my 17" notebook. -
does anyone know where to purchase one?
This seems to be the only place and their site is broken
http://www.inland-products.com/titan.htm -
still looking... anyone?
-
I too was anxious to get one so I contacted Inland. Here is the response:
Hi John,
Yes we do have them in stock, but there has been a slight problem with these units. The wires that are connected to the fans become loose causing the fans to stop working. Not all units have this problem but enough of them that we are not placing any guarantees on them. Purchasing one of these units is at your own risk because there are no returns, exchanges, warranty, or refunds. If you still wish to purchase one please contact me at the number provided below.
Thank you,

I'd love to purchase one of these as well... but that doesn't sound to good. Not a fan of buying something without a warranty or satisfaction guarantee.
Awesome new cooling pad for 12"-17" laptops (Titan TTC-G4TZ)
