I've been using a SwissGear backpack for the past year (with my 12" M700 being carried in it over the last 6 months). I like it, there are pockets for just about everything that I need to carry and the laptop portion is well padded.

I have a few backpacks able to accomodate up to 17", and I throw any of my notebooks in there when I'm backpacking (my usual preference on foot being shoulder bags). There's a new Targus XL I bought for cycle commuting, and there's two Axios - the Swift and Urban. I would use the Axio's for bicycle commuting, but the problem is that when you commute that way there's a bunch of stuff which you might need to end up stuffing in your bag, and the Axio's are not very 'stuffable'. Axio do softpacks too but they've not really appealed to me as much as the hardpacks do for foot / motorycle commutes. There's also an STM Convertible I use very seldom, which is a versatile shoulder bag, being able to convert into a (slightly uncomfortable due to it's flat shape) backpack.
