Hey I am planning of getting a Fujitsu S6231 or S701* But I want to be able to carry some more stuff then just the notebook...I work in a lab and I bike to and from work many times in the rain (Thus the waterproof is important).
I would like to carry rock climbing shoes, chack bag, and harness aside from the laptop and power brick. It would be nice if it hade a outside compartment for optional rope but that is NOT really needed.
I looked at several online stores from other suggestions on this site but I was not able to find anything that was water proof and fit my needs...also The North Face did not seem to offer a specific laptop bag, but maybe some that would work. Does anyone have any experience with using some of their bags for laptops??
Sorry for all the questions, thanks before hand!

If you can find it, this would work.

Thanks Brian, but I do not think they make that model anymore [V]. That was just what I was looking for though! None of the models now are rainproof.
Anyother suggestion out there on backpacks??

i dont understand how a backpack can be waterproof? what kind of material do you have to use to make the water not absorb and leak in?
Now that you have mention it, i think i need a "waterproof" bag too, i live in florida and it rains ALL the time in the summer. wouldnt want my ~$1200 notebook to die because of water.
plz post what you decide getting, also, if you find any backpack that would be good for a college student, LMK
TIA

I willl be sure to post what I find but unfortunatly I have not seen anything yet.
You need a strong fabric that has the seems sealed or as Brian's link above shows, a bag with a rain fly (such a shame that they do not make that bag anymore).

It's not listed because it's new. I'd email them about it. I haven't seen another pack with teh rain cover.

Thanks for the info Brian...the bag is offered on their UK site too

Here is what I found and think to be a super computer bag if you bike or are active outdoors and want to protect your computer while you are doing it.
http://www.boblbee.com
These backpacks sure seem nice and would really stand up the a good beating, but I am going to wait till the price falls to buy mine... at $185 they are pricy and I have heard that when a color goes out they sell for much less; like one of their models is currently. Unfortunatly I want to have the added room so I am opting for the bigger bag that is not on sale.[!]
Hope this helps some of you activev laptop users out there narrow your search.

those bags are a little too much for me flyboy.
just need something simple, cheap would be nice too[]

Hi Brian,
Great review Brian and thanks for your help so far. I have a couple of question is you do not mind...I really want to get this bag if it can hold the stuff I need to carry around on a daily basis.
1. I just read your review of the boblbee bag and I am wondering why you did not suggest this bag to me before?
I am guessing it is because it stated being water resistant and not water proof...am I right?
2. Well the Sport version claims to be water proof, and can handle a laptop...would you go with that for biking back and forth to work or the excutive that you reviewed??
3. Also can the Excutive hold extra rain gear and a coulpe of large text books and a Fujitsu S7010 in your opintion?? You said it was small inside so I am a bit worried.
Thanks again Brian and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

1) It's expensive and I have conerns about how tight the notebook compartment is. It would offer great water protection.
2) Probably, it should be a little more suitable for that kind of usage.
3) I think it could handle that load ok...you could also roll up the rain gear and attach to the outside if you wanted, in the bed roll area.

Thanks Brian...
Think I will go with the Excutive nice to know you have tried it and approved it [] and the Stort version seems to have a different setup in the support area. Just with I could see the Sport inside to see what they mean when they say it can accomidate a laptop.
Think it will be a problem for a S7010 laptop to be in the compartment of the Excutive?
Well thank you again,

The S is actually a little thinner than my P, so it should be better. You might check online for eBags coupons before buying.

Thanks Brian...I am waiting for an EBAG.com deal to come out...than I will buy.

I kinda skimmed over this thread.
Check with Spire online. They make awesome rugged backpacks for all laptops and they are made for not just carrying a laptop.
As far as waterproofing, most people that packpack (outdoor type) use backpack rain covers. REI sells them in different sizes. They just cover the pack and have an elastic edge.

Is there a button to find all the reviews on bags on this site easy? i try searching for "bag" and "case" but all i come up with is stuff like IBM makes dropping you notebook better and stuff like that.

We've only posted three or four of them. We'll be working to get our accessory reviews more organized for you though.

Brian,
I think that would be a great addition to the site. This is already one of the best sites for laptop review and to expand to accessories as well would offer the complete package [8D] !!!
Keep up the good work!

could you post a link to the other two reviews.
i have only read the Dicota BacPac Rain one
