I still cannot find a good quality, well padded BACKPACK that will fit the NP9261 17".

I'm looking only for a backpack, not a messenger, not a case. I need a well-padded, good quality backpack that has room to spare for extra junk. I can't find a damn thing. All the backpacks I find that I like only fit smaller laptops...

I've read a ton of reviews, I've scoured these pages several times; my eyes are bleeding. I could use some advice. What do YOU use for YOUR NP9261??? Help!

    Brain Bag
    plus
    Size 2XL Vertical Soft Cell
    Both by Tom Bihn
It's what's protecting my Sager 5760. the 2XL Vertical soft cell will also fit the 926x series.
The Brain Bag will actually fit TWO 17" laptops. ;)

    And before you say $170 is a lot, think about it;
You just spent $2000+ on your laptop, do you want to skimp on protection? $170 is less than 10% of you laptop value. Well worth it for protecting your investment.
And the Booq is probably close to 10% also, depending on what you dropped on the lappy.

I am using the Targus 617XL and it works fine for me and I got it for around 70$. It is my second one and I am very happy with it. I use mine daily and in very extreme conditions and have never lost a laptop in one yet.

Based on the specs it won't fit. The pack takes a notebook 2 inches thick, but the the 9261 is 2.35 inches thick. Considering it says the laptop compartment is rigid framed, it doesn't sound like there is any "wiggle" room.

This is too bad, because this is exactly what I need, aside from the price.

Does it fit well? It looks like the notebook is a liitle thicker than the space in the pack.

Also, how is the additional space?

If fits just fine it is easy to put in and take out. I have not had a problem with mine at all. I actually like the bag I had one before with my 17" todhiba and was looking for something else when I got this laptop and couldn't find anything I liked any better. I work overseas as a contractor and have not had any problems with the bag in the past. In fact I know about 4 other people that ended up with the same bag and they are just as happy. It has plenty of room for just about anything. I have lived out of mine for a week and had no problems plus had my laptop handy.

Thanks for the info. I need it for traveling back and forth to Germany. I'll see if I can find a brick and mortar store that has it and take a look.

I really need a good bag as well. I was looking at a Targus but I came along the Booq and Tom Bihn bags which are nice but costly. Anyone ever used that Tom Bihn Brain Bag mentioned earlier in this thread?

The Targus XL is probably the bang for the buck 17" notebook backpack.

I would have gotten that over my current Kensington Contour Backpack... due to the Clevo D900 series notebooks being a bit thicker that typical 17" notebooks.

I know the M570RU and M570U can fit in the Kensington fine, I had to alter my backpack to fit my notebook.

I agree with Targus XL being the best bang for the buck. That is way I got the second one. That and after looking around I couldn't find anything I really liked any better that I could buy locally. I just didn't want to spend that much and not be sure it would fit. I really like the looks of the booq but I will wait a while longer before buying anything else.
