I need a backpack to carry around my Toshiba P100 (17') and some books perferably. I need to get it cheap though (no more than $50), or as cheap as possible. I am willing to sacrifice more money if the quality is way worth it. I would also like to use this notebook backpack as a regular backpack to carry around some books in college. Thank you for your help.

You could give High Sierra Locker a shot. I should be getting it on the 24th, and if Andrew gives a thumbs up, I'll do a review of it.

17 in notebook backpacks tend to be expensive and huge. saw one at office depot and it looked like a hiker's pack. If I were you I'd get a normal backpack with many pockets and see if the laptop fits in one.

Best Buy is running 20% off Targus bags, maybe that's an option.

I have the Targus XL and it fits my laptop and all my extras. I dont' go to school anymore but i am sure I could get all my old books in there that I needed for a quarter. I should point out I studied IT and none of my books were under 3" thick. YOu can get the XL for about $50.00

Not that I can tell but of course I am 6'-4" and 270lbs. It does count as carryone luggage and fits into an overhead bin on an airplane. Just measured it and it is 20" tall and 14" wide across the shoulders :D

    RE: the Targus XL
I went to Best Buy last weekend with my new 5760. I loaded the lappy and my case both into the XL with room to spare. I then spent the next 30-45+ minutes wandering around the store with it on my back.
It didn't seem huge on my back. However, I did not like the way the straps are made at the top.
Because they make it one piece, (hard to describe, find a pic of the top of the straps) the top of it actually sticks out and cuts across the top of your shoulders and the back of your neck. Because of this, I would not purchase it.
    FTR, I'm 6' 3", 200 lbs.

So now i'm going through www.ebags.com to see what else they have for large laptops.

    The 5760 is 15.6 x 11.8 x ~1.8 (17" widescreen).
I'll check that one out, thanks.
