Hey guys, so my M17x R4 should be arriving soon, and I want to make sure I have a backpack to carry it around in safely. My current backpack only houses upto 15.6" ones so its not going to work for this. Here are a couple of things I deem important -

    1. TSA Compliant (not a deal breaker though, may or may not have this feature).
    2. At least two main compartments. The more the merrier!
    3. Waterproof.
    4. Good stitching that can hold up for at least a year and a half to two years.
    5. Has a good number of pockets. By good number, I'm looking for the regular side pockets, a bunch of pockets for the iPod, wallet, keys, pens, usb drives, laptop charger, headphones etc.
    6. Good warranty (not a deal breaker, but definitely preffered.
    7. Price below $100. I can't afford to go over that, have other upgrades to worry about :p

Okay, so I have my eye on a bunch of backpacks, so here they are -

    1. Alienware Orion 17" link

    2. Everki Beacon link

    3. Slappa Velocity MATRIX link

    4. Slappa Velocity SPYDER link

    5. Targus XL link

So, do you guys have any recommendations? Anything to add? A backpack that you use and absolutely love, or one among the above that you have used and love/ hate ? I'd extremely appreciate your help with this, and I also hope this post serves anyone else in the same boat as me and taking a look at backpacks. Thanks in advance for your answers, all!

Take a look at the Booq backpacks. They seem to be really high quality. I'm in the search for a good quality backpack and the Slappa Velocity seems to be quite nice and priced right.

Thanks I was waiting for someone to reply :/ Will take a look at Booq. Do you have either of the two Slappa Velocitys I have up there to recommend?

I highly recommend the Alienware Orion backpack which i used to haul my behemoth of a laptop the Asus G73 around school for a year. Then i purchased the Alienware M14x and used the Booq Mamba Shift bag.

I love the slim design of the Mamba Shift and how all my stuff has a pocket or place to be put in neatly but i miss the straps on the Orion. The Orion has amazing weight distribution and strap comfort. It took me a few days getting used to my Mamba Shift.

The Orion also has better air ventilation. Even during the heat of summer i would never feel like my back got hot but it's already winter and i can feel heat from my back with the Mamba Shift. Sometimes i think i left my laptop on inside my bag but I'm just used to the Orion

I am in the market for backpacks as well and have the same laptop and similar budget as OP. The Booq backpacks look very nice but all of them note that they fit 13-16" size laptops. They apparently are not big enough.

I use the Everki Beacon. Padding is very nice and it's comfortable to carry with a full load. I'm able to fit both the m17x and school books in it at the same time. I take out that rectangular compartment for more space.

Edit: The Beacon is on the bulky side. It barely fits between my legs on airplane flights. I like it though because I carry alot of stuff around.
