I am getting a 15" MBP next week, and I was wondering what the best backpack to carry it, the AC adapter, a couple of textbooks, and a lunch would be.
I have looked at the Targus Feren and Rogue, but they both seem to be a bit small (the Rogue more than the Feren). The SwissGear Synergy and Wenger Maxxum seem to be very nice but too expensive. I would rather not spend more than $50 or 60 on it.
I like this one that I saw at the Apple store (first place I looked, will probably buy elsewhere): STM Education Sports 15-inch Backpack (Charcoal/Gray); Link: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APP...re.woa/wo/7.RSLID?mco=C2D8D7D0&nplm=TE083Z/A; is that a good backpack?
    Thanks in advance!!!

EDIT: I found the Maxxum for just under $60 at newegg. Good deal?

I think swissgear would be the best looking and most rigged. Targus carries more stuff though. I have a swissgear myself that has a sleeve for a 15" on the inside. As for making up your mind on your future notebook, I'd go with the A8Jm but hey, I have never used a mac.

I'm also looking for a large backpack that can carry my 15.4'' notebook (Dell Latitude D820) as well as a few text books and binders. Which one is bigger --> SwissGear Synergy OR Wenger Maxxum?

My problem with the swissgear's is that they seem HEAVY. I don't want to carry around any more weight than I have to, ya'know?

I have the SwissGear maxxum and it is really quite fine - in actual use iti doesn't seem all that heavy (the larger SwissGear one did though, the Synergy).

The STM backpack you are looking at is pretty solid. I don't think you could go wrong with it, especially in that price range.

The Incase Ripstop backpack is also nice, but costs $100 so it might be out of the price range you're looking at. It is VERY well designed though, and in particular has a completely internal section for the laptop that keeps it an inch above the actual bottom of the case. The velvet lining is also nice to prevent scratches, etc. http://goincase.com/2006/06/21/rip-stop-backpack/

Even though it is more than you're looking to spend, from a protection standpoint and a storage standpoint I would definitely recommend considering it.

The Synergy is bigger. Also, just to clarify, they are both Wenger SwissGear brand.

I have a Targus Chicago which is great, but for carrying a lot of things, I have the Ogio Bounty Hunter. It says it's made for 17" laptops, but mine's a 15.4" and fits perfectly though the zipper (the 15" Ogio did NOT come close to fitting my 15.4" FYI). It fits in the side instead of dropping through the top which I like. More hidden and also to me the laptop is more secluded that way since it's in its own compartment.

I got my Ogio for $55 shipped on eBay...the dealer on there is VERY reputable.
