So my laptop just came in today and I realize that well I dont have a case or anything for it. I'm in the market for a backpack for my laptop as well as school textbooks and folders/binders/ect. So it's for school and computing. I want as much room as possible to fit the laptop (17") and still have plenty room and departments with it. I guess as far as the look of the backpack goes I want it to look pretty standard to what you would see on the back on a college kid. Nothing obscene is the basic idea. Just want some recommendations on laptops maybe personal experience that yall have had!

    Thanks!

The Astro Scout looks really really cool and i'm thinking about it but I was also looking at some Swiss Gear just because I know they're high quality. I looked at some about the Swiss Gear Pegasus and it looks really promising but i'm still looking around I looked at the Speck Aftpack to but it didnt necessarily catch all my interest.

Edit: The space themed inside of the Scout is awesome though haha

there is know doubt that Swiss gear makes a good, long lasting bag. Their bags look more baggy then the Scout, and if that's what your looking for then the Pegasus is a nice bag for you. and yea the space guys inside the bag is awesome lol :D

The only thing i'm necessarily strict about is how bulky the backpack looks. I'm not going to fitting an xbox 360 + laptop + books + controllers, ect. So I don't want a backpack that comes generally really bulky looking or really fat. I looked at the Swiss Gear Pegasus and it looks a little bit on the bulky side but I guess that's how it may be just due to the size of the laptop it has to carry. I'm also looking at the M.A.S.K.S but they to maybe look a little on the bulky side. I guess though that it's going to be bulky based on how much stuff I put in it

The scout isnt bulky at all will fit your HP good, it fits my M15x. just because it can hold all that doesnt mean you cant use the other space for other things. the swiss gear is bulky the scout is not :D
The MASK is a really large bag. FYI

Really considering it. My laptops like 10.5" x 17" (just to be safe) and that will the backpack fine? Just want to make sure.

The size of my laptop is 14.9 x 12.2 x 1.9-inch and like I said there is room to spare, this will fit a 18" notebook

No, problem. Once you get past the price, you'll love this bag. By far the best bag I've ever owned

I love the Outdoor Products Power Laptop Pack 2.0. Not cheap at $76, but the laptop storage is excellent, and the thing will store tons. Even more than the Astro (2,500 cubic in vs 2,200). It fit more like a normal backpack (most of the ones I tried out where tiny and/or fit weird, like riding way up on my back).

Hopefully getting it for Christmas :).

^ you cant even compare that to the Scout, you could never tell the difference of 300 cubic inches. The 2.0 whatever is a very hiking backpack looking bag with 2,500 ci. the scout is a super sleek bag that olds 300 cub in less,? not even on the same page.

I am not sure how they are not on the same page, they are both backpacks designed with laptop storage in mind :).

As for the storage capacity, well 300 cubic inches is about 14% more storage capacity. Whether that is noticeable or not... not significant. Just saying by way of comparison that it holds a ton of stuff. It was the only bag I tried out that held anything remotely close to a satisfactory amount of stuff.
