I want a good quality backpack that will fit an XPS M1710. Anyone have any good experiances? I don't want to spend more then $90. But I do want a good backpack, that will fit my laptop (maybe the power cord, and a mouse), plus some books for college.

If anyone knows of something that might work for me please let me know.

Check out the Kensington Contour Backpack, it fits most 17" notebook, even my massive 17" Clevo thats 12.5 pounds.

I got the idea of getting it from Kilim's Sager 5760 Review w/ Accessories.
and... the NBR Review for it

    I have 2 backpacks:
    - Tagus Notebook Backpack
    - Kensington Contour Backpack

I like the Kensington Contour Backpack because it is very high quality in its manufacturing, the Targus gave me some tearing on the shoulder straps within a few week of use. The Kensington wont have a problem like that because its straps are not separate (sewn on) to the backpack, rather they are a part of the main body of the material of the backpack. I also opted for the Kensington backpack with the lumber-brace option... its freakin awesome for your back. Its a hidden compartment on the back of the backpack that hides an adjustable lumber brace, its very well made. The lower back support is definitely a plus for carrying the notebook and school/work materials around.

Other than that, its got many compartments for all of your school/work and notebook accessories.

I think you should be able to check it out in stores like Circuit City, a friend just bought one there for $25-30... I bought my on Provantage.com for about $40.

    Hope this helps,
    -Gophn

I wrote a review on a Swiss Army Wenger Pegasus backpack so you could take a look at it, it's got pictures, you may have to search the accessories forum a few pages back.

Huh, I like that Kenningston back. Do they make a similar one that looks better? The front (not the part that touches your back) is ugly as hell.

i have the Slappa Velocity Spyder back pack and its great. The padding is needed in all the right spots and it fits my Asus W2J 17" very well. Its made from scubaprene and was a pretty good buy. Looks good too!!

    Hi all,
I recently bought an HP 17" laptop, and a Swiss Gear (Wenger) Pegasus backpack. The pack looks great and has very good construction, but it's too small for my laptop! The corners on the top edge press out into the zipper, and there it clearly no padding in that area. One wrong move, and my corners will get cracked or chipped. They claim this pack is big enough for a 17". If it were 2 or 3 inches longer/deeper, it would be a great pack.

Does anyone else see this on their pack? I'm now looking at the Kensington Contour or the Samsonite Laptop Sport.

Why not something from Booq? I think I'm going to get one, even though they cost a lot. Both the Boa.XL and the Python.XL look great. The python one will probably be best for students or people who need to carry a lot of books and stuff. site

Honestly, that bag looks like the answer. Slim, stylish, designed FOR 17" widescreens, it sounds like it's got it all. Kinda sucky that they don't ship to the US though.

I honestly wouldn't buy a laptop bag off of ebay unless I knew the manufacturer of the bag. Generic buys usually result if good looking things that break not long afterwards.

Targus XL is nice, but the bag by itself is VERY heavy, imho. Durable maybe, but the load does bear down on you. If work requires you to carry around 2 PCs, then it might not be the best option out there...
