Reposting this question here, as per the request of the individual who I had emailed... :)

    -----------------------------------------------

Hey there, I have some silly questions about the Bacpac Rain. The Dicota site lists its maximum notebook height (or, I suppose width... height in the pack) dimension at 330mm, which is a bit smaller than my i8600's 361mm... do you have any idea if the 8600 would be able to fit reasonably well within the pack? I don't mind snug, so long as it's not a fight to get it in.

Secondly, do you have _any_ idea where I might be able to find a place that'd ship this to me from out of country? I still can't find it in any stateside stores, online or otherwise. This backpack looks ideal given the intermittently rainy weather I'm frequently walking through here in Washington, but I want to be sure my laptop will even fit before I go to any great lengths to purchase one.

    Thanks much for your time!

First off. I love the rain. I've reviewed several backpacks since I reviewed this product and non have displaced it as my primary bag.

In response to your post, I got in touch with our Dicota contact. Here's what he had to say:

Once again thank you for your reference. Your customers laptop will fit and the bag will close easily however the top 3cm of the laptop will not be as well protected. The laptop sits in a padded sleeve which protects the full length of 330mm. So if your customer puts a 360mm laptop in the case the last 30mm on the front will not have extra padding. I have spoken with our US office and they do intend to sell this bag in the future but for the time being your customer can order direct from us by using a credit card on the numbers shown below. I had hoped to have our Dicota shop up and running by now but I believe it will take another two weeks.

    Does that help?

Thanks Brian! That's great info to have. My only remaining question now is, what were the numbers they mentioned that I could call and order direct from? :)

Ha, I don't have that handy, but they have a phone number on the site...I'm sure that's what he was referring to!

No luck so far, left a message at Dicota USA at the end of last week, and tried calling a few times midday this week, and it's been totally dead. Haven't even been able to get through to a human yet. :/

    Any ideas?

Thanks for all the help Brian (honest! I mean it, you got me way further than I would have alone :) but I'm getting totally brickwalled. No returned calls and the email I got back pretty much just said "sorry, we don't sell it in the states at all, I'd suggest you look at the Jump instead" which of course I'm not interested in. :/

I guess it's just a matter of waiting until if/when they start carrying it in the states. Hopefully it won't be too much longer now. :)

This is sort of semi-off topic, but how does the Dicota notebook packback compared with the other brand name in term of quality and durability since I am planning to buy one on one of those shopping network. Thanx in advance to Brian or anyone who's responese.

I think the quality is great. I'm still using it as my primary pack, months later.
