    I'm looking for a decent carrying case ($50 or less) or notebook backpack (do these exist?) for an Inspiron 1520.

    My Inspiron 1520 has the upgraded 9-cell battery which extends out by about 1-2".

    Would you folks please suggest some bags that would fit my needs?

    If you can get the Dell Backpack, it will be perfect. Also I am planning on taking the same combination.

    I know if will fit the 15.4" with 9-Cell (just oredered one myself) because my friends 17" widescreen HP just barely fits. (I have heard that most 17" widescreens don't fit, it should be marketed as a 15.4" bag).

    This Backpack is of great construction and has a dedicated, padded compartment for your notebook. Also it has tons of room and large thick zippers. They also make other versions for notebooks.

    I got mine for $35 as a last-one closeout at Sam's Club.

    Thanks, I'll drop by Sam's Club next week and take a look.

    Right now, I'm eying the $29.99 Targus they have for $40 off from Best Buy until Saturday. It appears that the 9-cell really doesn't stick out that much from the laptop anyway...so purchasing a notebook bag won't be as challenging as I originally thought.

    My laptop came yesterday. Just took out some measuring tape and measured the width. It's about.. 11.4" with the 9 cell in.

    I would check to make sure your local Sam's Club has them, at my store this was the last one (without price tag mind you) and they took an hour looking it up. Originally it was 80 something dollars, but they gave it to us for $35 because it was the last one. It's still definatly worth $80.
