I just purchased this laptop a few days ago. Looking for recommendations that would fit the large 17inch screen. I'm considering getting the Impact guard sleeves from Sumdex, but I might also need an alternative case to put it in. I plan on bringing this to school. Any advice is appreciated.

The Sumdex is a good start. Finding a backpack or other case is a little harder though. What kind of case are you looking for?

Wow 17 inches. Large and heavy.

Shoreline Cases : www.shorelinecases.com are very nice.

Booq has a nice Powersleeve 17 and the Booq Vyper XL

However with that size, you may want a backpack or something.

Well, I'm trying to decide what would be the best way to transport the laptop. I was thinking of getting a sleeve and just sticking the laptop in my backpack...but I read that the adapter is pretty large and clunky. That makes me want to lean towards some kind of case/bag that will be very protective and be able to hold everything.

titaniummd, yeah I know, but it'll be fun to game on when I don't feel like doing my school work. I'll take a look at your recommendations. Thanks a lot!

I have a kensington back I picked up at circuit city, it says it will do up to a 17" screen. However, I recommend what I did, see if they carry your laptop and then ask one of the associates to unlock it or a similar one and help you to pick out a back that holds it well and is comfortable.

Quikster, does the backpack have spare room for maybe some spiral notebooks and maybe some small textbooks? The problem about having another backpack is that I'd already be carrying my current backpack. I've never seen a person wearing two backpacks...at least around where I live.

Yes it does, I usually carry a 1" 3 ring binder, and a couple of small or 1 regular textbook in it plus the laptop, and power cords

Cool. Thanks a lot Quikster. I'll go with the backpack then. Now to decide which backpack.

I use the Targus CPT 400 for my X6000 (same size as the ZD8000) The notebook fits perfect. The bag isn't that big and for short trips it's perfect. You would think it was a 15 inch notebook, well padded and lots of space!

    The bag looks like this:

    X6000 P-4 3.2GHz 2gigs PC2 4200(533MHz)Ram 7200RPM 60 gig HHD 8x DVD Burner and the Brightview!

That's really nice Tacjam, but I think I want a backpack now. I plan on buying the Sumdex sleeve and putting it in my regular school backpack. I'll see how I like it and decide from there. Thanks a lot!
