As some of you might know from my numerous recommendations to others about purchasing the g700; which seems like majority of you have purchased, mine has died on me recently.

Purchased the G700 back in September.

Been using it on my OCZ Behemoth mouse pad. Worked flawlessly through many games of cod, work, etc etc.

The original Envelope battery has never been changed, nor have I ever used a different battery.

The mouse charging cable and USB dongle is still in new condition.

It has never been raged on by pounding the mouse, spilled food - crumbs/liquids on, never dropped the mouse, it was completely babied.

It started about a week ago when I noticed the cursor was struggling to keep up with the mouse. Then I noticed the laser was having difficulty to track through every movement. Regardless of dpi, polling, direction it moved on its axis, etc.

I figured the sensor was dirty so I cleaned it off with a q-tip lightly dipped in alcohol and cleaned dry. No change.

Changed the battery to a fresh 2000mah nimh, no change.

    My 2 profile settings
    Profile 1: 400/400dpi at 1000hz, 5000/5000dpi at 1000hz
    (for gaming)

    Profile 2: 2000/2000dpi at 500hz
    (every usage)

Going through all settings and playing around with different dpi and polling, made no difference.

I noticed when the mouse was plugged in the usb cable for charging, that is when all hell broke lose. The mouse severely struggled to track and ended up just no tracking at all. However it was charging just fine.

After charging, it would still struggle to track.

Finally last night, the mouse just ended up dieing. It does not track at all.

Deadmau5. So I concluded the night by listening to some Deadmau5 with a handle of baileys repeating to myself out loud, "Old Greg" and a man tear down my face.

    Not.

But Logitech responded to my support email and this is what they're doing for me.

Emailed me a prepaid UPS shipping label. All I have to do is pack it and drop it off at UPS.

Then email back the CSR that was helping me, to let him know that it has been shipped.

Then he will ship out a new replacement for me.

I hate going through this all over again

Not really sure why I've been having such bad luck with computer things this year.

Spring: my 5 year old Acer Aspire 5102wlmi that I verbally fought for to obtain at Circuit City's Black Friday 2006 died a month before finals spring semester.

Summer: got a Asus g73 which ended being a lemon, on first boot.. it just crashed..

Then got this Lenovo Y560, no regrets. Much better than the Asus. Awesome laptop.

Purchased an Orochi in July. Left side button broke after 2 months of use. Razer gave me a new one then I sold the replacement on ebay (no loss)

Then purchased the G700 September, 4 months later. Dead.

Ugh, what a rough year.

Hope you better luck with 2011. Im big fan of lenovo Y ideapad series though, grats on that buy.

Not the biggest fan of logitech palm mice, but I do love wireless. Im probably getting the only other 2.4 ghz wireless mouse gaming mouse there is which is the roccat pyra, at least one with a micro usb dongle.

Sorry to hear about the G700, I hope mine holds up. Every product line will have some with issues, but it seems like Logitech's warranty has you covered. My Y460 has also been running pretty well (I don't recall it crashing once due to something not caused by me). My self built desktop has random crashes every once in a while do to I have no idea what, but my lenovo seems to be pretty stable. Of course, it does run very hot; I just discovered that taking the back cover off lowers the max CPU temps by 10C while gaming.

thanks Jeff :D yeah the pyra seems like a very nice mouse. Has a lot of good reviews to back it too, gl with the purchase; it'll be a good one ;)

Mjolner, yeah I'm definitely sure it'll be just fine for you. It is a very nice mouse, I've just been having the strangest bad luck lol

The Y's are awesome, Lenovo just in general, no regrets. I'll probably stick with Lenovo for the rest of my life really. After owning one, I don't want any other brand; taking into consideration I've had every other brand too. Just a quality difference.

Strangest thing that happened to my 560... After posting this thread, about 30 minutes later; when I logged into facebook on my school's wireless network; I got a virus

It was a pretty bad one too. It was doing like some sort of loop, in trying to make a connection to the internet. Regardless if you disable the nic; wired and wireless adapters, this virus just re-enables it. Made the CPU run at maximum so the laptop was heating up pretty bad; but... nothing was showing up in the task manager. Just normal processes. It also didn't allow any programs to be opened.

So I couldn't open OneKey Recovery.. Symptoms stays the same in safemode too. So I was pretty screwed that I couldn't reformat using the second partition of Lenovo's OE system. So had to reboot and throw in the system back up dvd's that I made when I first got the laptop... then reformatted loading the OE partition. After that finished everything was back to normal. Turned on my external, did OneKey Recovery again and reformatted again putting on my clean partition I made with all programs installed. What a night.. especially when I have my final project due tomorrow morning. ffs. Good thing I had everything saved on my flash drive, otherwise I think I would have went insane. lol

I don't use the onekey recovery; when I got my y460 I switched out the 5400 rpm HDD for a seagate momentus XT hybrid hard drive and did a fresh install with a recovery CD I got from lenovo (which actually has no crapware or lenovo drivers on it, so I can install only what I want), then I installed all of my programs and imaged the OS to an external hard drive using the included windows restore utility. This way I don't have to screw around with onekey recovery and the fixed D partition size (which apparently you can't change or onekey recovery won't work).

As far as mice go I did have 2 separate issues with logitech mice; both MX610's. The first time the mouse would randomly double click when I performed a single click, which apparently meant something was physically wrong with the mouse. Then a year or so later the two side buttons just snapped off of the replacement mouse. The G700 feels like a much more physically durable mouse, so I doubt this will happen (especially since the side buttons are meant for stand up to the amount of use gaming requires).

    ahh very nice :D

Dang. I was planning on reformatting the whole hdd over winter break and doing new recovery discs. However after reading that one key wont work if the second partition is gone... hmm.. that changes everything

Yeah the g700 is very well built. The overall construction of it is phenomenal imho. I my have the 2 back side buttons bound for sprint/hold breath and knife in codBO, so it gets used heavily. Unlike the Orochi which the button broke after 2 months; these are still going just like if they were brand new out of the box.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it more and more as you get use to it

    :)

for (cod) i have the front two bound as lean left and right. Not sure if bfbc has that. Use to be reload and use and mouse tilt left and right as lean left and right.

You can bind the front two as... hmm.. TeamSpeak, script to buy a certain set up like in good 'ol cs1.6. If you have admin you can do a macro and bind a script to do like all speak and a statement.. -shrugs-

    so many possibilities :D

I've always used 5-button mice with the two side buttons both on the thumb side. In most games, including the Call of Duty series and Bad Company 2, I have the larger, closer thumb button bound to melee, and the other one to weapon swap.
