From what I hear the best cooler out there is the Spire Pacific Breeze (read about it in the How to Cool your Laptop section). I myself have a Notepal Cooler Master and it works pretty decent too, around 4-5C off of the CPU and HDD. If you're looking to getting one, you want one that blows air under your laptop instead of pulling. Good luck.

I am looking for something like this. Fans might not be needed for normal use. Just something to elevate the notebook for better air flow. If needed, one can turn on the fan. Is there any other laptop cooler for less price.

The zalman is probably the best laptop cooler. It is a little expensive but it does a great job at cooling your laptop.

Thanks BHD & magma saber, I've decided to go with the zalman nc-1000 (silver) and will also buy it at newegg.com. $5 off the regular price. I appreciate your advice.

Imo, a good notebook cooler is a balance between low fan noise and cooling properties. The spire fails miserably in noise as it's basically two 60mm case fans wedged together to draw air out.

Cheapest is a cookie cooling rack.

At least, that's what I use... But it really does work, it allows enough air to flow through - my Macbook drops at least 5 degrees when I use it. x)

I have one and I cant believe it gets so much praise on this forum. Its average at best in my opinion, especially for the price. I maybe get 2-3 C degrees cooler from using it

Ive ditched it and all coolers in general and since moved to Coolfeet from Bluelounge. I get the same cooling temps just from my laptop being elevated off my desk and allowing cooler air to pass through.

I've tried it and only dropped temps by 1-2C on full load and didn't see any temp difference on idle. For a $50 cooler I would have expected more. I tried the new Targus chill pad as well and that lowered load temps by 5C.
