Any recommendations? I'd like some speakers for my laptop, I don't need a sub-woofer.

I'd like an enveloping sound that immerses you. Of course it would be nice if it were crisp and allowed me to hear every aspect of the song. I mostly listen to various types of Rock.

    Thanks!

Right now I'm thinking about these: M-Audio Studiophile AV 40
Anything out there better than these?

I have Harmon Kardon Soundsticks II and they rock. I have never heard such a crisp, clear sound from a computer speaker before. They do include a powered sub-woofer. I don't think you will get a immersing sound without a sub-woofer.
    You can get them here.

I use Bose Companion 2's and you would be surprised how good two small speakers can sound!

I have the Logitech Z-10 which connect by USB and have a display screen which shows the music you are listening too - a bit of a gimmic but a nice feature.

I have the Bose Companion 5 at home and use these at uni, these sound almost the same and the bass is amazing and when its not even that loud my neighbour accross the corridor as me to turn them down because she can still hear the bass line.

I was looking that the AV40 speakers, but I ended up getting AudioEngine A2 instead. I'm very happy with them. But I still haven't heard the AV40s, so I can't really compare.

I'm not sure I'd call the A2's that enveloping and immersing at a distance -- although if you position them kind of close, like at arms' length, then they are... and they probably are as enveloping and immersing as any two-speaker setup of their size would be, and they also do have a impressive amount of "oomph" for their size -- and they are very clear and crisp, great for music. And they're nice and compact too, if you're planning to put them on a desk or something.

Hi, I guess 80% of the people on this forum will recommend logitech z2300..........I got one too......It surely has its cons and pros.
After using it for a month or so, I think it makes no difference any more. But z2300 is good for listening to base rich music, but not for mid-high range music, especially when there are many music instruments, the z2300 can not clearly present each music instrument. But yeah, afterward, it is a computer speaker. Most of the time I turn down the volume, and everything sounds the same. But the z2300 is definitely a standout computer speaker. I kind of enjoy listening music with it. For watching movies, it is pretty good, it gives me the feeling that I am in a theater if I turn up the volume, and I enjoy it so much that I watch the tomb raider , both movies, 4 times. :D
