    err... not quite audiophile...

but this are the popular 2.1 speaker: logitech z2300?

the sound is quite clear and good... hooked to a good source it could create clear and crisp sound..

I second the z2300. They're nice. My parents use them with their DVD player.

klipsch 2.1 and harmon kardon sound sticks are both under $100 and pretty decent for its price. i'm sure you can do a little better but probably not much unless you're willing to up the budget.

i got a altec lansing 5.1 setup which sounds AWESOME! for 49.99, but the sub takes alot of space and there are alot of efffing wires, but behind my desk you cant see them anyways.

if you have room I would suggest it!

If you want audiophile... then add about two more zero's to that figure then come back. As for a good sounding 2.1 system, I'd go with klipsch pro media, they're a good cheap set of speakers, really impressive considering the price.

Creative Gigaworks T20 or 40 is good, like the guy said. I use the T10 and frankly the bass is only slightly different from my Logitech 2.1s.

Where have you seen Soundsticks for under $100? The absolute lowest I have ever been able to find them was $110....

Why would anybody spend $100 on 2.1 speakers. Your never going to get Audiophile sound out of 2.1 speakers I dont care how good they are. Im more of a 5.1/7.1 or nothing kinda guy. :)
