Hey guys, i wanted to get a really good monitor for my M18x thats coming in soon.
I just have no idea which one to get. I was looking at Dells Ultra Sharp U2410, but apparently, there is alot of bleeding that happens in that monitor. so i switched to Alienware OptX AW2310 , but there was alot of backlight problems that came out of the reviews. So i switched to the ASUS VE247H, and apparently, that one has a horrendous ghosting problem.
Anyways, i just want a solid Monitor with 1080p or higher with a really good contrast ratio. Does anyone own any of these models? Or do you have a solid Hidef monitor that works for you? if you do what type is it? Point me in the right direction!!
Btw, i dunno if this is in the right section, but i put it in the one i thought best.

I'd recommend the Asus VW246H, if you can find it (it's discontinued on newegg, but was one of it's biggest sellers). It's perfect for gaming.

What are you using the monitor for? Any photography or colour sensitive applications? Movies? Games? Budget?

edit: lets just say for arguments sake, pure gaming -
demons, you mentioned backlighting issues with the AW2310... did you encounter this or was it based on reviews?
I have the AW2310 which I use with my desktop and I find its a very good display - love the 120Hz refresh rate which does look better IMO. Colors and viewing angles are good and I dont have any abnormal backlighting issues.
Other than that, I would consider this one -

Another vote here for the Ultrasharp monitors...24" is great U2410. The slightly smaller U2311 at 23" is also a good screen although lacks a bit of connectivity and uses a e-IPS panel (economy). Colours etc should still be very good though as its still IPS.
As with IPS vs TN, response times will always be slower on IPS panels - the U2410 is 6milliseconds compared to the 2ms of a good TN panel (Twisted Nematic). Although, with that said, I think you would find it very difficult to really notice much of a difference.
Some people like glossy, some like matte...the U2410 has an anti glare coating on its matte screen. I pefer matte to glossy but different strokes for different folks.
The Apple Cinema Displays are glossy if thats your thing but I have heard that due to Apples proprietory design, its a pain to get it working on anything other than Apple stuff. Also, on top of that, for gaming, the Apple response time is a staggering 12ms....now that is SLOW for ANY panel, even IPS.
TFT Central have some good reviews of various monitors I would cehck em out.
My two pennies. -

While it would be godly to have a u3011 from Dell, there is just no way I could justify the price. I'm glad I went with a u2711. Only problem is that now I wish I had two

Look for static ratio contrast figures to get a better idea..... -

Can highly recommend the AW ones. Have two of them and not only do they look amazing, the 120hz refresh (like Batboy said) makes them a joy to work on.
