So im in the market for a new monitor and Im wondering what monitor you guys think is the best. Im looking at a few different ones. I looking to spend about 200 or $300. It be nice if the monitor supported 24bit color but it really doesn't matter to me that much. I'll probably use it mostly for internet use, movies/online tv, and games

Anything 1080p is 16:9 and all of them are "cheap" TN panels (20 or 16bit and bad view angles) if your looking for quality you have to get a much more expensive IPS or PVA panel and they cost about $500+
It used to be 24"+ were all good monitors but recently they have even started to make TN panels in that size as well.
Dell 2407WFP is a 24" 1920x1200 S-PVA panel known to be one of the best monitors of all time. -
Dell actually had a proffessional model which is 24 bit, its a 23 inch model, and has DisplayPort, VGA, DVI, and USB, ports. its actaully a pretty good deal its only $209. The odd thing is that Dell lists this model as TN Panel but, I was pretty sure that only the S-PVA monitors supported 24-bit color. About your monitor, my brother has a 2407 and their really nice. I'll defitenly think about your monitor but was really planning to get one about a month from now.

Personally, I'd take a lesser known company with good product for 1080P at half the price than the brand name at $500+
SCEPTRE X24WG-1080P Black 24"

Because you want to use it for games too, better stay away from the Dell 2407WFP. The Dell monitors generally have a lot of issues, especially the 2407WFP with ghosting and the 2408WFP with a high input lag:

But as ViciousXUSMC already said, if you want a better display then take a look at a 24" WUXGA display instead of some hyped 23" HD 1080 with a lower resolution.
Best is you take a look at different monitor review sites, just like the one I've posted or others. -
I just picked up a refurbished Samsung T240HD off of eBay for $212 shipped. It's a 24" LCD HDTV 1920x1200, you may not be looking for LCD/HDTV combo but this one fits my needs perfectly.

Not quite there with S-PVA but it's cheaper, and still miles better than TN.
